But the email says "we are happy to accept one". I did the same as you in my local store but they pointed out the "one" part and insisted it was just one voucher allowed!

Have you received a clearer email from them then saying one of each type?

Well this week shopping I popped into Waitrose and picked up the things I like that Tescos don't do. Handed over 2 Huggies vouchers and a Hipp one. NO PROBLEM. She even checked with superviser who was very happy to take them. Didn't want to give the other 10 Huggies vouchers as I didn't want to push my luck!

Went to Tescos yesterday and the dweeb at the till (dippy looking boys just don't worry about silly things like coupons) took a huggies voucher, kitty kat and a tesco coupon with no fuss. SAME STORE as I'd had the fuss in!

    It's crazy!

    Good point.

Makes more of a case for them to ring HO in store while you are with them to clarify their policy. Or maybe if you push this with them, they'll give in and be "generous" and let you have more than 1 coupon.

    Who knows?

Yes Waitrose seem to accept coupons without question and with the minimum of fuss.
Sometimes in my Tesco's I have had a few problems, but it does depend on the cashier.
The young lads don't seem to care and just scan all.
Asda is very good,I e-mailed their head office about their coupon policy, they said yes we accept coupons as long as we stock the item, and you do not have to purchase it,this also applies to internet coupons. :j

Today I did a £23 ish shop in Tescos. The young lad took one coupon for a £1 for something I did not buy.

We did not say anything. But it was really annoying as I have about £4 ish of coupons to get rid of before the end of month. And I now doubt that I will get chance as I have done the food shopping for the next two weeks.

Think it will be back to Asda again as they seem to be getting more and more BOGOF's which help stretch my money as well.

    Ho hum. Never mind.

    Yours

  • Have you tried the self-service checkouts? I never have problems with any coupons (apart from Listerine!) and often put through £10+

I had picked the youngest male cahier today and he said he would have to check if he could accept my coupons. He came back with a senior member of staff who asked "whats your problem?" I explained I had no problem just trying to use coupons as per Tescos policy. She said for a while they had done this in goodwill but were no longer doing it. I said I didn't realise Tescos had changed their policy and she said it never was policy and the cashier was not allowed to accept them or he would be disciplined and walked off!!

What do I do with my coupons now???

Try a different checkout person or go to a different store!! Each checkout person has different ideas and some stores change policy weekly.

Just got a CS lady to ring HO as my coupon wasn't accepted. The till took it fine, but the cashier had a problem with accepting it.

1st reason: haven't bought the product
2nd reason: not more than 10%

Showed them Kazzea's email, and said told her how confused I was as a consumer about this.

After a 15 minute wait, and CS going off to find the DVD related to my coupon, my £3 Joey coupon was accepted on an £8 spend. I also asked her to clarify what HO had said and I was told that they can only accept 1 coupon per transaction.

I told her it was obvious to me that neither head office, nor stores were clear on this policy as the phone call had taken so long and I had more up to date information than she as a member of staff did.

She then went on to tell me that coupons had been abused in store in the past (people expecting to pay 25p for £25 of shopping-Ben500, was that you?!) , therefore it was at the managers discretion as to whether they were accepted or not.

I told her that was mad because, as a consumer I expect head office policy to be policy in all stores, not some, and how on earth was I supposed to know where my coupons would be accepted. I was told to ask at CS as I go in the store to shop.

What I didn't care to share with her was the fact that staff members in her own store had varying views on this policy so how are CS to tell me definitively?

How stupid is that? HO really need to get themselves sorted on this one, but until they do, treasure your cashiers who accept the coupons.

  • Hi, I was told that if you are buying the product you can use as many coupons as you like.If you are not buying the product then you can only use a coupon up to the value of £1.00.I always just give the cashier all the coupons I have and hope for the best!!!
