With our wedding in a month's time on 5/04/2008 I thought i may post an update on what we have spend on so far and what we have to do

    Church - £490
    Hall - £300
    Catering - £350 for 50pple
    Flower Girl Dresses + Shoes - £34 - Woolworths
Bired's silk Bouquet - £1.50 - bought from charity cancer shop
Buttonhole Flowers - £3.00 - Bought 3 red bouquets from poundland to use for this
Some Decorations, confetti, wedding pop up and Guest book - £10 from tesco

    Still to buy
    Bridesmaid Dress - £30
    Brides Shoes & Tiara - £30
Rings - £170 from argos - shhhh i didnt say that
    Tripod Stand - £10
    Drinks - £100
    Decorations - £100

I had my wedding dress already bought few years back when i was going to get into wedding business. Partner will just use the suit he has and will buy red ties for him and the bestman. Stationery we have done email invites and invited some people by word of mouth.

We have decided to do our own photography and video so will be investing in a tripod stand. In the end we decided on a school hall which has some pretty grounds where we can get some photos.

And the best part is a friend has offered to pay for the catering which will cost about £350 and some friends are also clubbing together to pay £300 for our hall and another friend is doing the cake for us.I also got a bag loads of white table clothes and some decorations yesterday from one of my friends who had left overs from her wedding last year

So all in all we are going to spend less than £1000 pounds of our own money but including the gifts it still cost under £2000 for 50 people.

Whats been amazing is the amount of support we got from family and friends. We mentioned it that we are doing a budget wedding and then they just offered loads of help. These are their wedding gifts for us so there is no wedding list. I think if you tell people that you are on a budget people will be forthcoming with help.

Now I am looking at what we can do for our honeymoon. Travelodge has some offers until the 10th so I am hoping to get a night there on our wedding night. We have a bit of cash now around £300 for our honeymoon. I think we can go away for 3nights somewhere a bit local as i will be 8months pregnant on my wedding day.

I am now getting quite excited and my mum is seated on the floor right now adjusting my dress so its becoming so real.

All the best to other brides or grooms on a budget

If you are looking for some balloons we've just been told that some branches of Asda sell helium cylinders and balloon packs.

We're planning our wedding for April this year too and will be checking this out.
    Hope it's of use :)

Thanks. Time seems to have flown by and its this weekend the 5th when we are having the wedding. We seem to have done most things now. Just few bits and bobs remaining. I will be posting about my day and how it all went and how much we would have spend.

I know it is now probably to late and have not read all threads, we used for buttonholes the British heart foundation silk roses at a donation of £1 per item. We gave everyone a disposable camera and got better pictures than any proper photographer. but whatever happens we had the most wonderful wedding for a cost of £2,000 and people still talk about it. The main ingredient is joy, not how much you have spent but how much you love each other.
I have a friend who spen t£30,000 on their wedding excluding dress and honeymoon they stayed together for 9 months. Cost is not everything.! Be happy.

wow...that name rung a bell with me (as in I felt sure I knew somebody who'd used it) so I just googled it and the first one on the google list actually comes with a warning that this could harm your computer! Just what do people get out of this? I just don't understand the mentality of people who set things up just to destroy other people's PCs...and half the time it's not case of hacking to get details, they must get some perverse pleasure from wiping things out completely
  • lol - my virus catcher caught it before I even clicked on it! :)
