Well, I've taken the plunge and listed a couple of dozen books on Amazon. I had an account already as I experimented with listing one book about a month ago just to see how it worked, but today I've had a little production line going.

I've checked them all out against what is already for sale and listed mine according to the other prices.

    Fingers crossed.

Hi Soo, did you have a pile of books at one side of the chair that got transfered to the other side when listed..or is that just me?

I bet you'll be back in less than 2 days to say that you've sold one....
If I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from
  • Well done Soo

You now get your 'I'm an Amazonian' badge - you'll be back soon reporting a sale, I'm sure.

Oooh one side of the chair to the other, that's similar to what I do. I have a pile on the computer desk next to me and then put them in a pile besdie me when I've listed them...good luck!

Yep that was me this afternoon. I got one pile of books out of the bookcases at a time, and sorted throught them. Some I wouldn't sell, so just went back into bookcases, one pile had no value so they are in a pile for the chairty shop and one pile listed.

I decided that any book that had a 1p price and more than a dozen listed wasn't worth bothering with, so I didn't list them.

We have several thousand books here and stored in two other locations, most of which belong to my OH so all I need to do is persuade him that he needs to sell some.....

I'm tempted to start on the CDs next.

The fees look a bit frightening though, I just listed an art book and had to keep upping the price to cover the fees and have enough left for the postage, I think they ended up being in excess of £4. I know you don't have to pay them if the book doesn't sell, but they are still a bit hefty.

I like the fact that it is easy to see what others are selling and for how much, it saves listing things that don't stand much chance of selling.

I'm still listing now, but I'm getting tired ....

  • Soo, if it's a heavy book I point this out in the listing with wording on the lines of - 'this is a heavy book but you only pay £2.75 for the postage, I pay the rest' (you have 1000 characters to use) - this is because anyone looking to buy a book might assume that it's more costly than it is, the postage and packing costs are hard to find, you don't really see them till you go to the checkout page

    Another excellent tip AT

  • I'll go for another tip then...when I have listed a book I wrap it closely in clingfilm, this keeps it from getting scuffed up while in storage (they are all in boxes and the one I want is always at the bottom) and they look really good when they go in the bubble bags and I assume they look great when they get opened up too...
