One of the greatest revelations to me has been discovering that there is very little difference in actual quality for the big brand names that they sell compared to the normal high street ones.
I think you find that THEY ARE THE SAME CLOTHES!RedOnRed wrote:I got a pair of Calvin Kline jeans which fell apart after a couple of washes and all of the designer under pants i've bought from them recently, like Ted Baker and FUBU, are already starting to develop holes.
But then I suspect that it does all get made in the same old sweat shops in the far east.

I think the options and range have gone downhill a bit. But I still buy a fair bit.
Tips:-
1. Go regularly good items tend to sell very fast
2. Clearance items tend to be there because they do not sell and one of the main reasons I have found is that the sizes are misquoted either by TKMaxx or the manufacturer. So items marked as a 32 might be a 40 and vica versa some really good bargains here.0 -
Yep, I'm a tk maxx fan too! Got myself some great summer tops for next to nothing, and previous posts are right, the clearance rails are a must to check out! some awesome bargains.
it's also the only place i go to for pots and pans - so much cheaper than the high street! Not buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!0 -
Glad I started this now. I have never looked in the homeware section. I head straight in an up the escalator to the clothes - next time I will rectify this!0

I think I did, but then that's not the point.0 -
Ok RedOnRed, but you seemed to be saying that the clothes were some sort of poor quality copies, or were you just saying that things like CK jeans are poor quality wherever you buy them from?
I have found the stuff in TKMaxx to be as good as you find anywhere else as I believe it is the same stuff that you would buy anywhere else. The fancy shops dont want to have huge clearance sections, so the wholesalers offload it to here. The trendy people who use the trendy shops remain happy to pay full price as there are less sales and I get to bag the bargains!0 -
I've never actually found anything in there to buy. The kids clothes are normally naff....the womens clothes are so far off what i'd normally wear I don't bother looking, the mens stuff isn't DH taste either.
I always look at the household stuff but again - it's either not my taste or I could get it cheaper elsewhere. Kids toys seem to be either the same price as elsewhere or slightly dearer.
I suppose it depends on the store and the stock and what you're after but I can honestly say if it closed tomorrow I'd probably not notice for at least a year."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

I never mentioned they were copies in any sort of way and i'm not saying that CK jeans are poor quality where ever you buy them from either.
What I did say was that the designer labels are no different in quality to normal high street brands. Thought I made that pretty clear to be honest.
TKMaxx sell designer labels at affordable prices, which is kind of why we buy them from them, but in my view and experience the difference in quality is negligible. Which is just an observation and not a bad reflection of TKMaxx.0 -
I just bought a pair of fully lined beautiful soft black leather trousers reduced from £95 - £10!!!, Pony shoes from £85 - £14.99, along side the nice tops I bought in Monsoons sale, that's my wardrobe revamped :j0

oh I see, I read:RedOnRed wrote:One of the greatest revelations to me has been discovering that there is very little difference in actual quality for the big brand names that they sell compared to the normal high street ones.
as comparing like for like in TKMaxx with other high street stores. Now I see that you meant something like CK jeans compared to M&S jeans or similar. I would agree. The high street brands are so well made that the designer labels are no higher in quality.
I didnt think my post was critical in any way, sorry if it read like thatlipidicman wrote:Ok RedOnRed, but you seemed to be saying that the clothes were some sort of poor quality copies, or were you just saying that things like CK jeans are poor quality wherever you buy them from?
I buy Levis or Diesel because I like the style. I buy Quicksilver t-shirts because the actual T-shirt is high quality and lasts and the designs are great. Some others have said that they cant find anything they like in there. I do recognise that TKMaxx aims at a limited age range (under 40s?), but for me its great.0
