They are only entitled to visit you by prior agreement and have to give 14 days notice - OFT Guidelines.
This is more likely to be designed to frighten you into phoning and agreeing an unacceptaby high payment.
Please also note that they are required to communicate with you in the manner that you find acceptable.
I would aslo advise them that you have had recent treatment for cancer and their behaviour constitutes haressment. In at least one case, the debtor was awared damages because the creditor hareesed them despite knowing that one of the couple was being/had recently been treated for cancer. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi Folks,
Just wanted to put a quick note in here to let you know we were contacted by barclaycard about this thread, and the above post by Barclaycard_Connie is a genuine member of their staff.
Thanks

Thanks once again all of you for taking so much time to help.
I emiled HS and told them not to come as I am keeping up the payments and also I did not want any distress caused to my sons.
No reply though.
They know about the cancer they had a letter from my consultant ,truely it made it worse as they then banged and banged my landline and bombarded me with letters .
I took the view they probably wanted their money before I popped my clogs!!
Thats why I dont do the phone thing with them as they are absolutely heartless and I end up in tears.
I do feel as though things are looking up as everyone here is so incredibly helpful and I sort of feel protected a bit ..oh well enough of that..
its going to be alright ..
take care..xxx0 -
Ho honeyblade. Have you managed to get anywhere? Its hard not to feel hopeless & helpless when youre so under pressure. I would suggest that you ring cccs and have a chat with your dad about the money he gave you. Please dont feel alone. There are so many of us here who understand how dire it is being in debt & are all helping each other out of it - one day we will be liberated, having learned lessons and even had a bit of fun on the way! Hi Honeyblade,
I hope Connie can help you with your query.
Also, good luck with HS. I hope they don't hassle you. You could do with some good luck for a change!0 -
Well HS have not replied to my email which I suppose means that they were intending to hassle me.
I have paid them £80 again today which means only £696 to go..but another week of vegetable soup and homemade bread..yes that was my sons in the background moaning and jam roly poly and custard to fill them up..that was cheering..
I am glad about connies response and hope to hear from BC soon.
If I could get that sorted well e would be halfway there..
Bad news is my dads in hospital so I will have to ring the patientline which charges extortionate rates but i have no choice.

Hi, just a quick thought.
I am almost certain you will be entitled to working / child tax credit and possibly housing benefit. I didnt see council tax on your outgoings?
A total weekly income of £230 of a single parent with 2 kids would give you both child tax credit and working tax credit
Any child support is not counted for tax credits only housing benfit nd council tax benefit and your savings is under some thresholds.
Did you go to www.entitledto.co.uk yet?0 -
I have just read this thread and Honey blade I hope you sons know how utterly fabulous their Mum is.
You are doing to brilliantly.
I would look in to reclaiming charges if you can and to be honest I would in the meantime pay everything off, it would be such a relief, although I can understand why you are not- I just used most of my savings and its frightens me too. You are an amazing individual to come through this.
I am really glad you came here, this place always cheers me up people are so kind. it will work out
keep posting honey

Sorry to hear about your dad honey. I hope he feels better soon. Just when you think you've got more than enough to deal with, life has a way of upsetting you even further.
If HS turn up just unexpectedly, be firm and say it's not convenient and that you want to conduct everything via post/email. Don't let them intimidate you, you've got enough to worry about, especially with your dad being in hospital.
I was just wondering - is HS connected to Barclays or is it completely separate? Sorry if I've overlooked this.0
