Hi honeyblade, sorry to hear about your situation, it must be very depressing for you. i was just wondering if you had thought of joining any of the challenges on here as a way of making extra money to pay off your debts. There are lots of things that you can get involved in as a way of making extra money any any extra money is great!

Check out some of the challenges on here as they have loads of different way of making money. The good ones are the Olympic challenge, make £10 a day, also worth looking at is live on £4000 for a year challenge.

All the best and stay positive, am sure you'll do it in the end.

sounds like you need some proper professional help from one of the debt charities as some poeple have already mentioned on here. CCCS or perhaps your local cab might be better as you will be able to talk face to face. as for the bank account I too felt mortified about being in debt and having to open a new account but the Coop basic account is there to help people like us and I had no trouble opening one even though I am on a DMP and owe a lot. good luck and dont despair

do you think i should pay these debts off with my savings?
I assume that I have no chance of getting a basic bank account with my credit record as it is and I will not be able to carry on getting cash for wages for much longer.
please help I haven't slept for days with worry.

What savings do you have?

Hiya
I have changed your SOA as some figures were weekly and some monthly, its easier to see the whole picture if you keep to the same so I have changed it to monthly. Please check it to see if I have done it right.
Now its easier to read, some more people will be along and will make suggestions.
I would also suggest speaking to CCCS or going to their website.
Do you not get any benefits at all? tax credits? also go to www.entitledto.com and see if you should be getting extra. I presume the Dad is not around?

• Thankyou agin or your kindness..

I will look at the challenges.

I have £5000 that my dad has left given to me as well incase the cancer comes back and the boys have to bury me ..sorry I dont mean to be morbid ..its in a high earner I can get to it.
I want to pay the debts off with this..but is there any point if the debt going to stay for 6 years anyway..I looked today and HS had put one debt as satisfied but still had it at an 8 .

I have spoken to CCCs but they said I was doing the right thing..but said something about being able to attach a 200 word statement to the credit report explaining but its hard enough telling friends here that its all messed up without the banks and others seeing it..
thanks for sorting my SOA out..I do pay any extra to HS even if its odd amounts.
take care

What is your income figure? £250 per week is £1083 a month before tax. Then you should be getting Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit and possibly Working Tax Credit.

The debt does not stay on your record for 6 years, the default does. it will help once the debt is marked satified.

However, if there is a good reason for you to have got into a muddle, the agency do allow you to put a note on the file to explain the situation. Like - OH ran off and left me with a load of joint debts that i have now sorted out.

Or - I was diagnosed with a serious illness in x 2006 for which I had long-term hospital treatment. I left my affairs in the hands of a family member. I was not aware until ... 2007, that this person had not be managing my affairs correctly. i am now trying to sort matters out.

If that tallies with your history - before x 06, it was pukka and since ..2007 it has been improving, they might refer your request rather than reject it out of hand.

Probably worth doing.

the other thing, is are you aware that you can reclaim bank and credit card charges? It may be that you do not owe all that money anyway. I would have thought you were in the category for resolution despite the court case, on hardship grounds. Send A Subject Access Request and find out what they might owe you.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
• Thankyou all,

I am self employed so I quoted my income per week as all inclusive of child benefit.sometimes I cam make a little extra which i always use ..there is never any spare money when you have 12 and 14 yr old boys!

Thankyou RAS for your wording of the note ,it cut it down to words ,rather than emotions.
I don't know about reclaiming the charges all I know was I had a Barclays additions current account with a £650 overdraft.I had to pay HS £1777.03
so there must have been a lot added on,unfortunately all letters etc were destroyed so I honestly do not know.

Did anyone have any thoughts about me using my savings and whether leaving it with Barclays is a good thing, maybe I should move it.

Thankyou very much
• sorry no working tax credits I am self employed and cant prove my income.
• You've been given some excellent advice, but in answer to your specific question about whether to use savings to pay the debt, I would normally say 'yes'. However it depends on how things are going with your treatment. I hope so much that it is going well for you and if so, then as these debts are causing you so much stress which can not be good for your health, then yes by all means do it. But I would ask your dad first, if you feel able, whether he would mind.
It must be such a difficult time for you - I really sympathise - and wish you lots of luck.
