I have 2 jars of white lasagne sauce lurking in my cupboards. I am not going to make a lasagne with them as the family aren't keen. They must have been on offer when I bought them and I must have had a mad moment!

Any ideas as to what else I can do with them please?

Add cheese and make a cheese sauce - or you could add parsley for a parsley sauce!!!

How about adding tagliatelli muchrooms & ham and calling it carbonara

    or

chicken onions and peas and calling it chicken supreme, (on a bed of rice)

    or

if they dont like white sauces turn it brown with bisto and call it a gravy. You could pour it over chops or something.

I've got a recipe for fish pie that uses a white sauce. I make one up using the milk the fish was poached in, but the ready-made stuff should work. If you have a cat (or dog), I'm sure they'd love the fishy milk.

I was going to suggest carbonara but I like the chicken supreme idea.

add cheese to it before you do anything with it! i used a jar of this stuff yesterday to make a lasagne as it had been on offer and my white sauce isn't the best and it didn't taste nice on it's own at all. fine once it was in the lasagne but definately needed help with mature cheddar!

An old boss in a restaurant used to treat us waitresses after work with roast potatoes smothered in white sauce. I'd completely forgotten about it until this thread and must make some!

How about using some of white sauce as a filling for a pie? You can fry up some leeks in butter, add some bacon or chicken. Add the white sauce (perhaps half the jar, so the filling is not too runny). Transfer to a pyrex dish, top with a layer of pastry, I usually use shop-bought puff pastry or you could use short-crust pastry.

You could make 2 batches of the pie filling (using up all the jar of sauce) and freeze the 2nd lot.

    Yummy pie for dinner! :D
