I take mine out of the freezer, obviously unwrap it, put it on a plate, cover and put it straight in the microwave for about 5 minutes. That's for a 1-2 person portion.Never say never0

When leaving things to cool before shoving in the freezer, how long do u leave them? Is there a temp they should be before u can put them in? Cos when i make lasagnes to freeze in individual little foil trays, they take AGES to cool down enough!!!!Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0

there is no real set timescales as it depends on the temperature of the room, how big the portions are (smaller will cool quicker than larger portions) and many other variables.
It's just the same as putting something in the fridge, they have to be completely cool so once they are completely cooled, then they can safely be frozen.
ill add this to lasagne freezing/defrosting qs later
this page has some useful information or check the food stnadards agency. To be honest though, I use common sense. I think using a thermometer would drive me crazy!

Hi everyone,
I have finally learned how to make lasagne to the perfection.
There is only 2 of us so as with many other things, I will make extra and then freeze some for 'can't be bothered to cook' days.
Now, how do you freeze them? What do you put them in?
Would I be best off getting some of the tin containers you get take out in, then I would be able to stick them into the oven to reheat straight in those?
Worried about the lasagne falling apart or the sauce leaking out if I manipulate them too much, in and out of dishes...
What do you do?
Thanks0 -
Plastic microwave containers, remove from freezer and microwave.:footie:

Hi
when i Make lasagne, there is only two of us imake enough for 4, I have ceramic lasagne type dishes for 2, got them from poundland, i freeze in those, just wrap in clingfilm, and freeze, lasagne does freeze very well, you could buy a pack of foil containers from somewhere such as poundland.0 -
I use a Pyrex rectangular dish with a plastic lid.
http://www.arc-international-cookware.com/en/products/all-in-one/all-in-one-dish-with-lid
I cook it in the dish, let it cool, put the lid on and then put it in the freezer.
I then take the dish out of the freezer, defrost it, take the lid off and then reheat it.
OK, it's more expensive than a plastic or foil container, but it's useful for lots of other things and should last until you drop it. My 1.5L one was a 2007 Christmas present from my daughter. I then bought the 0.8L one in Woolworths at the New Year for £2.50.
Poundstretchers and The Range now do cheap Pyrex.
Pyrex stuff has 10 year guarantees, so scan and save the receipt. Most receipts are thermally printed and fade in time.If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

I tend to wait until it is cold (so it holds together better) then transfer to reusable plastic takeaway containers for freezing. Obviously these can't go straight in the oven though!0
