Seeing as its a go for a good time to switch I did a comparison on Energy helpline and it said I could save around £200 on the eon EnergyOnline Extra Saver 5 Standing Charge Tariff against the Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 4 tariff that I'm currently on.
My query is have I done the right thing, has anyone had any experience with e.on??

Something wrong there Sunshine, Southern Electric group have yet to increase their prices, so should have been top.0

E-on is Powergen not SSE.0

Martin's article states that the checkers are updated when changes are announced, not when they come in so although SE hasn't put the prices up (I am with SE currently) they have announced so it should all be taken into account...I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.0

the comparison sites are all correct. the energy online extra saver 5 is working out cheapest even after the price increase.0

Have looked on UK Power and Energylinx price updates, and can't find a price increase or notice of one to come for SSE, so they should come top in most comparisons.0

So I have done the right thing in switching then? Is e.on a good company compared to Scottish Power and the others??0

Do your comparison again but this time click 'service rating' for their recommended best option. Doesn't mean a lot because Energyhelpline, for example, took years to down grade British Gas.
Then re-run your figures but using Southern Electric as your supplier. Click best price.0 -
Just switched to EON from EDF-£55 Quidco and £180 cheaper per yr-Looks a no brainer-Dont know how long Online 5 will last at current price for but can always switch again. Sent E mail to EDF to confirm that tariff should not increase whilst transfer in process as per their letter.0

I have been with EON formerly Powergen for years and have never had any problems. But my meters are always read and the odd time I get an estimate I always check the meter reading. I pay by DD, used the online tariffs when they first introduced them, don`t allow myself to get too much into debt or credit therefore very rarely need to use customer service.0

I have just tried to switch to EON through Quidco, and everything goes ok until I enter my bank details and them it keeps throwing it back at me saying that the sort code and bank account details do not match. After 3 attempts at putting it through it says I need to print a paper direct debit form out through a PDF link and fill them in. I presume this would disqualify the Quidco cash back as it would not be completed wholly online. I tried doing it through the energy helpline site and it accepts all the bank account details with no problem. I have left it for now and will try Quidco tommorrow. Has anyone else had this trouble?0
