A couple of basic questions about the O2 free SIMS.

Does the £10 monthly top-up requrement apply only for the free texts ? If I top up now with £10 will the £10 still be there for voice calls in 3 months time ?

Do the SIMs have any pre-loaded value (£1 or something similar).

Thanks for your help !

ten pounds will be available for u as credit when u top up and at the same time it activates ur free txt/wap offer. When offer ends because u have used all free text or the month is up u will get a message saying that u will be charged from there on for text/wap. to riactivate offer simply top up again (min 10£) and the offer will be active gain( mind some time it takes a while for the offer to come back on u might be charged for a few texts usuallly no more than a day) and still use the 10£ as credit ;D

    Hope it helps

The 02 shop told me I had to top up on the same day every month. Reading your post this doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone know?

Considering how many of these there are knocking about, its amazing that nobody seems to know what they actually do ! I am really none the wiser on either of my 2 questions.

Does the £10 carry over month to month for normal phone calls (not texts) or does one have to top it up each month ?

Is there an inital credit ?

How can people be selling these when they don't know the basic T&C ??
  • This may sound thick

I have a vodaone GXI0i on contract and I am about to change it to a pay as you go.

Can i swap the vodafone sim for an O2 sim, will this work??
    Nice to save.
  • How would i go about unlocking the phone ???

    Is it easy ???
    Nice to save.

been using the sims since they came out summer last year.all i can tell u is that i top up whenever i need to.i topped up in August and started eating into my credit after 5 weeks when i used the freebies.so u don't have to top up every single month.just when u've used the freebies.

The definitive answer to how this sim works:

    A) You top up the sim with £10.
    B) About a day (usually) later your 300 free texts are activated.
    C) You can use your £10 credit for calls or texts when your 300 have run out.
    D) After 30 days your free texts will stop or when you have used all 300, if before the end of the month. They will send you a text to warn you.
    E) You do not have to top up straight away if you do not want to. You may use the phone as normal using up your credit for texts and calls for as long as you like and your credit will remain on your phone.
    F) You can then choose to top up a further £10.
    G) A day later free texts are activated again and last for a further 30 days from the day they are activated.

Basically whenever you top up £10 assuming you're not already recieving free texts from a previous £10s-worth you will get given the 300 free texts for a month.

    I think that covers everything.

    Answering the above questions.

    a) Yes, the money will still be there after 3 months time if you do not use it.
    b) The sims don't have anything on when you get them so you have to top up £10. When you register (which you can only do after topping up £10 you should get £2.50 credit about a month later.

I cannot recal getting any free credit on my sim but I did get mine about a year ago. It may have changed since then.

You cannot do anything with your new sim until you do the first £10.00 topup.

I have gone as much a 3-4 months without having used up my £10.00 credit so the credit deffinately doesn't run out.
Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.

    Slow down speed kills.
  • From the booklet that comes with these:

4.2 Unused calltime carries forward and will not expire provided you top up £10 every 30 days.

4.3 If not topped up, the phone will be barred and you will be unable to make calls except to top up or call the emergency services.

    And also:

...tell us and claim your £2.50 call time..... To claim the reward, simply register the new mobile within 30 days of activating it. Once registered, we'll give you the free calltime within another 30 days.

I think that's the definitive answer you were looking for.
