I am not judging it buy wether I like the car or not I already told you I used to be a mechanic and the old man has had a few Fiat Punto's until the new model out he loved the Fiat Punto.
As I already said if you dont want to listen then thats fine its just my opinion on my experiances of them, but dont ask for advise and then argue with people for giving you advise as thats just simpley rude.0 -

The majority of posts on this thread are from people who have owned Punto's and know the score.
Before I bought mine I checked the Fiat forums as well and it was all "oh yes, no problem". Had I have come here and asked for impartial advice I may have avoided a very costly mistake.
You came here and asked for advice, you got it. Whether you choose to ignore it is entirely up to you.0 -
my point is that on fiat forums they all have fiats and theres more people on there that have them then on here so i tend to believe what they say rather then people just judging them coz they had one in the past or heard bad things about them, end of topic0

Watch out for the infamous mk 2 clutch judder. I ended up having no fewer than 7 new clutches fitted in a 2 year period under warranty (the car was an 02 plate, bought at 10 months old) I got rid in the end as they couldn't put the problem right and I started to have problems with the electronic power steering- my problems are detailed on here somewhere: http://forums.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-forums.searchforums/keyword-clutch++punto/1a8f2eb0.html0

But if your just going to argue with what people tell you why even bother asking for advise on this forum then?
Its one thing to just ignore it but to argue with people giving you advise the advise you asked for is plain rude, I carnt belive you dont see that.0 -
i have a 52 plate dynamic and have had it since new, the ecu went two days before warranty ended so i was lucky there , but apart from that its great on petrol and other running costs and i'm keeping it for a few more years yet (overpaying on mortgage).
good luck on whatever you decide, there can be good and bad with all cars , i would buy another fiat, it is a budget car if i could afford a new honda or toyota i would buy one .0 -

Perfectly put, and I do rather wonder why the OP has asked for opinion in the 1st place
Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0 -
Apart from that scottish one...hear they have the sexiest moderators on the net as well

Saying that people who post on a Fiat forum all love Fiats and won't say a bad word about them is rubbish. It's like saying people who post here won't say a bad thing about anything money-related.
Generally people are prepared to be quite honest and point out the shortcomings of a given model. Then it's up to you to decide how those shortcomings and potential failure points weigh up against other cars. E.g. Puntos may not be the most reliable cars in the world, but then again they are cheap. Someone said "buy something German or Japanese". I test drove a VW Polo and owned a Nissan Primera. Nothing went wrong with the Primera, but both cars were so incredibly boring to drive it made me want to cry.
In the interests of disclosure, I've owned a Fiat Coupe, which I had a love/hate relationship with, and I own a (new style) Fiat Panda, which is fantastic, and very cheap to run.
