Would you be better off renting or doing a short term lease/contract hire on a car for only 3 months?

Most places in London rent out Prius's.

I see. You must be trying to woo some eco-hottie and need a green car for a few months to get your dastardly way. ;):D Say no more.

    Well What Car a green car guide;

    http://www.whatcar.com/green-car-buying.aspx

There's a link for greenest family cars:

    http://www.whatcar.com/green-special-report.aspx?NA=225212&EL=3194626

A lot of the greenest cars are French and quite frankly you're not going to want to buy one and sell it 3 months later as you'll lose shedloads of money in depreciation. You would be better off buying something like the Prius or a used premium car to resell.

hahah eco-hottie eh?!! find me one of those and I'll buy a wind farm!:rotfl:

you say the greenest cars are french and i'd lose shed loads of money.. if you were to buy a large family car and medium family cars for 15k and selling on wasnt a worry, which would you get?

thanks for the help by the way!
  • Boreing I know but check out the Vectra, I have one the 1.9 CDTi There are 2 versions a 120BHP and the 150BHP the 150s are really quick and indicated by a red Ti on the badge. the best bit the emisions are about 145 but the fuel economy even with my very heavy foot is up at 47mpg over nearly 30000 miles since I got it. that is an actual figure from driveing about not the !!!!!!!! ones in the brochures done under perfect conditions etc. The chasis is the same as the Sabb 93 so it handles reasonable well, it has the same engine as the Signum which is recomended by which in the green exec list at number 2.

The best bit is the first year really depreciates from about £20000 for the SRi down to about £12000 for an excelent ~12000 mile example that will be about 12 month old on an 07 plate. The depreciation doesnt seem to go anyworse for 6 month older so you could proberbly sell it 3 months down the line and not loose out much. Check out www.networkq.co.uk

You're going to have to spill the beans before you get much more advice I think:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Inquisative lot on here you know,

Aside from that, we all have our favourites so don't expect too much unbiased opinion, I fancied the Saab untill I realised it was just a Vectra in drag, not the otherway round, and before anyone shoots me down my last 4 cars spanning about 16 years have all been VX, the last one a Vectra.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I will shoot you down. Sure, it shares the same basic floorpan, but the amount of work done leaves the SAAB a long way away from the Vauxhall. I could bore you for ever, but the 'single platform' base of the Vectra, designed to be used by GM cars the world over, has actually led to more variance in design and cost GM shed loads of cash. I'll get my coat before I go on for too long!

Anyhow, back to 'green' large(ish) cars for the OP, for MPV's take a look at Renault Grand Scenic and Citroen Grand Picasso's - both should come in at the right money for an early 2007 model, and both are tax band C. For a more car-like feel, then the Honda Accord 2.2i-CDTi is probably the most desirable (2006 model), or the usual trio of French family motors (C5/407/Laguna). All will be well within budget.

And several if not more of the engines? Anyway you misunterstood what I intended to say, which was in view of a previous post, the Vectra is no Saab, or not what the Saab of old was. So, now thinking about it, I think I'm quite safe in saying, "the Saab is no Saab"

And at that point I will get mi coat:rolleyes:
