I gave you the quote from the "non existent post" gleaned from a cache. The posts were spam, misleading and broke MSE rules. I guess that's why they were removed from public view.
If you are concerned this has been fabricated, I'm sure the admin at MSE will be able to confirm the posts they removed which contained the press release. You do seem keen to defend them - you have joined MSE today seemingly to do this. Do you have any connection with them?
Ah, I see. You are questioning my motives. Being unable to provide even a smidgeon of evidence that freedirectoryenquiries.com made that post, that they intend to send spam texts to callers or that users' phone numbers will be put on a spam mailing list, you thought a bit of the old ad hominem would be a good replacement.0 -
I have seen a copy of the Original Press Release issued by the company,to the media. Not the one subsequently circulated by the Press association.
In it they clearly state i quote "The new number -0800 100 100 - is completely free and does not charge callers from mobiles, landlines or cable networks".
So they or their agents are responsible for leading people up the garden path on this matter, irrespective of what they now say on their site.0 -

Why do you want evidence on who posted the (now deleted) adverts here?
Does it matter?
Or are you suggesting a competitor has tried to get them a bad name by posting incorrectly that calls are completely free from mobiles?
It does seem the posts originated from them as the newspapers and Which magazine wrongly printed the same misleading detail. Maybe you know different?
I have reproduced this quote from their website regarding sending spam text messages whenever you use your mobile to ring them (seems more than just a "smidgeon of evidence"):You will get the requested number with a marketing message from our advertiser sent by text message to your phone.
Throughout these exchanges the facts have been shown, (and your mistake regarding the out of context quote you made pointed out along with the relevant quote as "evidence" for anyone reading this thread), and I wondered what your motives are for continuing to defend them, that's all.
That was not intended as an attack on your character, but all your posts today since joining MSE have been in this thread and seem defensive of them.0 -
Another misleading statement in their Original Press Release.I quote:
"The UK's only FREE directory enquiries service launches today, signalling the end of costly 118 calls."
118118 have been operating one on 0800 118 (FREE) 3733 for some considerable time now.

They are just being cynical with their weasel words.
Amongst the services they offer to advertisers on their website is this:Further options include:
- Record a caller's details for database or sales promotion - purposes
And how will they be doing that do you think?
They will be harvesting live mobile phone numbers for their clients, and selling them on to them as one of the options available to their advertisers.0 -

No comment on that "smidgeon" showing callers numbers will be recorded for advertisers data bases and sales promotion purposes quoted in post #36?0

Took you some time to dig that out. More weasel words in the Privacy Policy. Section 3.4 may be the most relevant to what is above.0 -

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

No.
If you read the thread, you will see I alerted members to this in my first contribution on the thread - see post#9.Part of their business plan is to send spam texts to callers
You took exception to it, and wanted some "evidence", (suggesting it was not true), which I have now given you.0
