I can personally vouch for the Nokia 1112, basic phone, my battery will keep the phone going for well over a week. Mono screen I guess helps preserve energy.

Available very cheap from Virgin, now being replaced by the 1200.

You could always go for something like a Nokia 8210. They small, compact, lightweight and when I owned one (several years ago) the battery was spot on.
I think the fact that it only makes calls and sends SMS is one of the reasons the battery in older phones last so long.

Have a butchers on ebay and see if you can pick on up on the cheap.

Absolutely. These days phones come with like 16m colours, 3g, camera phones, more advance firmwares etc. all of which will drain battery faster.
  • why do the Nokia 63's seem to benefit from such exaggerated claims :confused:

I have seen claims ranging from 10 right up to 19 days - cr*p. I have a 6310 and about 4 days is the best - and that's with almost zero use of the phone (well often actually zero use other than being switched on)

I am interested also in best possible battery life and my usage is approx as follows:

90% - just switched on and not being used
    3% - taking/making calls
    7% - sending/receiving text messages.

so apart from ones already mentioned any opinions please ?

    Many thanks

  • btw I have just won an auction on e-bay for a Samsung C300 so if it isn't a scam - it'll be interesting to see how that fares :T:j

Are newer Samsungs any good on battery life ?

Oh also I need a phone with large keys and decent spaces between them (bit like the Nokia 6310 in fairness) as I have sausage like fingers and find 96% of modern mobiles have keypads that are unusable for tenting for me

Batery life on the C300 is excellent. Upto 2 weeks on my standby test.

Try the Shere standby test. Fully charge the phone and leave it somewhere it receives a full signal, check it every day and see how many days it lasts. That way you can see how long it lasts in standby.

Its not a fancy phone, but if you want a simple phone to make and receive phone calls with good battery life then it is hard to fault. No MP3 or camera but who needs that. The last time I used a camera on a phone was 8 or 9 months ago and am not bothered about playing MP3s on a phone.

It is nice and small (a bit chunky) but fits easily into my pockets.
  • Thanks dude.

    No I don't want any of that cr*p - I don't need a toast maker and a microwave on my phone :rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Yeah looks quite nice too

    thanks again
