Thank you I will also try this. They have refused to charge me the same price as a new member (and didn't offer me a M&S voucher either  ).
Everyone seems to get a different reaction. It must depend on who is in the office and what their mood is.
I said I would cancel it, but I don't want to cut off my nose to spite my face.0 -
N9eav wrote:Thanks. There was another option I heard once, that you pay up front and then claim it back off them. Whoever them were??????
Maybe somebody like https://www.motoringassist.com ? You get the work done by a garage and then claim it back (if it's covered) It works out very cheap but I haven't tried claiming yet

Try Brittania Rescue - Are you, your wife or any relation a civil servant, BT or Post Office worker or ever have been one - if so you can join the CSMA and get preferential rates - just PM me.0

They do 25% off for Institute of Advanced Motorists members, so my price as an existing member is actually £112 x 0.75 = £84. I phoned them up to see why I couldn't have £100 x 0.75 = £75 like a new member, they said I couldn't be a new member but in any case you can only use one discount at once.
So I am getting a better deal than a new member. And feeling much better.
Incidentally my annual subscription to IAM is £18, so I am £10 up :j0 -
I told the AA i was going to leave and reduced it from £111 to £75. They wouldn't go any lower, but were cheaper than the alternative I had in mind (Tesco).0

Not listening
I wonder why it didn't work for me. I do have quite a soft and young sounding voice, maybe that holds me back in these situations.
Pleased to hear you did well though, only joking about sticking my tongue out.0 -
