AA or RAC or Green Flag or ????

I have been with the AA for several years. I am quite happy with them. But the missus now drives and I think it would be a good idea to get her covered too. Renewing the membership with a spouse costs over £100. A nice little RAC man at the supermarket offered me a deal with them for new members. Both persons, any car for £87. Seems pretty good? What do you think? ( recovery to home address option)

Thanks. There was another option I heard once, that you pay up front and then claim it back off them. Whoever them were??????

So don't try to claim the cost back from "them"...

    Haha, yes I guess so...

This doesn't answer your original question but, I couldn't decide on whether to have the AA or RAC and did my homework before deciding on the AA.

The RAC offered a no-claims discount whereas the AA didn't. However the operator I spoke to at the AA did say that they do review policies every few years and might make a customer individual offers. Of course I know better than to trust a call centre operators word, but I chose the AA purely because although it costs more in the long run, they do appear to have more vans on the road than the RAC.

I got to thinking that I do like the AA. I had one call out because I let the battery go flat leaving the lights on. They were there in 15 minutes. several years ago they also fixed my alternator at the roadside with new parts.

Anyway I called the AA just now and told them that I would like the cover for the missus but the RAC had offered me a great deal.. The nice lady said no problem. We will cover you wife for FREE and send her a £10 M & S voucher as a new member!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you AA. My wife will be happy. a tenner to spend in Marks...

Did you ask for the vouchers and free cover? It's just the I need to do exactly the same thing! Or did they just say it straight off? And how long have you been a member?

I had been a member since 1999. I did not ask for anything other than, could they offer me anything to prevent me having to move to RAC for a better deal. Give it a go. Use the free number of 0800 435980. Select the 'thinking of leaving the AA option'.
