I'm not an expert but I believe that Experian etc share information with Egg and other lenders (in simple terms). So basically, if you miss a payment on another credit card or loan then Egg will know/learn about it at some point.
Banks can subscribe to an Experian service which will report any adverse updates on the credit files of a supplied customer list.Ethical moneysaver0 -

I was about to ditch them after asking them to reduce my interest rate down from 17.9 to what new customers get (16.9) and them refusing.
This was a week before the fiasco and today I got an email about a 0% transfer deal at 2.5% fee.
So shallow me wont be dropping them, just transferring my MBNA balance now its 0% has run out.
Sorry guys.0 -
Personally I am of the opinion that individuals should simply consider their own financial circumstances - if they choose to ditch Egg because of recent events then that is their call.
As for the above contribution.....you don't have to apologise to anyone....you're looking after your own finances and at the end of the day that's what any sane person would do, rather than jumping on a bandwagon that won't make much impact.0 -
They have just offered me 7 months 0% balance transfer with a 2.5% fee. I do not owe them any money on that account and paid it off over 6 months ago. The only way I could be making them any money is because I have an Egg Money card which rarelly goes overdrawn.
They have closed my bosses account. I am 100% definite he earns a lot more money than me and has a lot more spending power.
Weird way to run a business if you ask me.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
Lets all close our EGG credit CARD accounts or transfer to another card
and teach CITIBANK a lesson
Lets send them back to AMERICA with their tail between there legs
HIP HIP HURRAY!
Right on brother!!!
unfortunatly we live in selfish times, all cleverly engineered by the government to break any sence of community and make sure we could never unite and stand agains/for anything.0 -
I'm not going to close my account. I like egg, I have the egg money card and it suits my needs just fine, the customer service has been good when i've dealt with them too.
Just because they have made a sensible business decision (which may not have been communicated that well) I see no reason to close my account.0 -
