  • Hi, I'm a Newbie.... hence why we are are still in this state!
In a nutshell, lost business, car, home, credit rating in the early 90's. Every time we were near to getting back on our feet, we suffered a job loss, going to lower paid positions each time. Had to find money to cover finding a rented property to live, twice since.Went with Payplan a few years ago, who we have found correspondance with difficult. They have consistently underpaid several accounts, causing extra interest to be added (yes, we still pay interest on it all) so only 10% of our monthly payment comes off our balance. I am beginning to REALLY PANIC again, and my spouse does 'not have time' or 'can't get hold of them' or just doesn't like rocking the boat! I need advice desperately. Are we able to reclaim interest that was built up during the time Payplan are in control of the payments? We pay our money straight to them regularly, and they have even missed a couple of payments causing more ructions. Who can I ask? Who can help? I am apparently a totally useless Wannabe.

    Hi all

Just had phone call from citi cards after avoiding for a week I answered because i was at home.

I told them i was on a dmp the lady asked for the number and then asked if i would mind goign throug my SOA with her so that she could pass my account through to the review department rather than wait for payplan as it would make charges etc stop a bit quicker

saw no harm in it and she was really lovely so just read out form the payplan paper work. She said i shouldnt get any calls for a while and wished me luck with sorting out my finances

they are not all going to be that nice but it was a relief to get it over with

hope you all have a good weekend

    Hi Everyone,

Had a review back in January after my return to work, I'm able to up my payment by just under£40 per month which has cut my DFD by 3 years.

I'll be having another review in October when DH's motorbike finance finishes which will almost double the monthly payment which will really knock the DFD down.

I have a dream that the increased payments will induce HSBC to stop charging us interest which is really killing us.

Hi guys, just popping in quickly.

Wanted to say a special hello to ronan - sorry to hear about your situation. I'm not going to tell you not to panic, as that doesn't help. I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question. Perhaps some of the others will, or you could perhaps post a separate thread on the DFW forum as more people will read it? Hope you get everything sorted out & remember to keep popping in here for some support.

Interesting point about the Payplan vs CCCS budgets... hmm. I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet, putting it off til after the weekend, he he!

I remember Barclaycard calling my parents - I was furious, especially as they don't know about my situation. Hang on in there and take the Data Protection advice, I'm going try it next time too!

    Speak soon,

    smile :rolleyes2

Had a letter from Cabots today to say they have bought one of our debts and could I let CCCS know that money should now be paid to them and not Goldfish. This is the second of our debts that has been bought by a Debt Collector, The other one has now been cleared.
  • hi smilealot..
Thanks for the welcome this is a lovley site and you all seem really nice people,we are all in the same boat which is kind of comforting .

We actually started a dmp last february but were being charged £88 per month for the privalage

we then found Payplan and changed to them, but during that time we defaulted on all our debts and we have 26 creditors,7 have not got back with a reply yet and 1 is threatening court action going straight for a charging order 1st credit they call themselves:mad: and MBNA are not being very nice,
I am worried about 1st credit i cannot deny that, but what can one do,they have the right to take us to court we will just have pray that they do not,

We were paying £393 on the previous dmp and we struggled to find the money as we are self employed and then when we changed to payplan they dropped it to £226 i thought this was brilliant, but i knew we would have trouble from 1st credit as they wanted £51 per month on the last dmp and now they are only getting £9.61, :rotfl:

We have only been in this house for 18 months and one of the mortgage conditions was that we paid that debt off which is 1st credit and we never bothered as there was too much work to get done on the house the central heating never worked so that needed repairing .

Now we are worried what the mortgage provider would say if there was a charging order on the house for a debt that was supposed to have been paid ,well i best shut up as this is not the place to rant on is it sorry

thanks for the wlecome again :A

Hiya Everyone and can i pls join this too.

hiya ailsajayne27, i have had the same thing happen to me today with both monument and bank of scotland. Ive been talking to nationaldebtline and got their info pack and i was going to do my own letters and plan topay all my creditors from a new account with co-op.
Me, thinking that was Easter now, and wanted to make the payments before the letters sent got interuppted by both above today, Thought I WAS BEING pro active and discussing my account to discuss my budget and explain my situation. I feel now i was bulldozed into accepting slightly higher only about 2 or 3 pounds more on each payment so they can arrange to stop charges etc.

My budget was done in a hurry last night and had wanted to go through with debtline today to check, and had got it wrong about 20 pounds so do have that extra to play with. However, got a little annoyed with bank of scotland who advised me that their proceedures are they cannot accept dmp not done via a company, i was astounded. They wanted a letter from nationaldebtline advising them that they were advising me before they could look at stopping the charges etc.

Rang national debtline who advised this was nonsence, and also bank of scotland are one of their funders.

So now like you above had already partly written my letter advising that i had wanted to be communicated only via letter addressed to me with Private and Confidential to my name only at my home address. Now as ive calmed down, am going to add into the letter that they

"" remove my contact numbers from their records under the data protection act and to communicate with me via letter only".

So thanks had forgot to add this bit - Nationaldebtline also advised not to talk to them as i wont have a proper record of what was discussed.

Funny, my friend the other day said to me, listen if it aint written down, it didnt happen! So am passing that gem around for us to remember.
From tomorrow i am not going to be hassled anymore so we must all be strong, have a happy easter weekend and just enjoy the moment if we all can.

Thought id share my day have fun
    ciao
