    Hello everyone

Just thought I would pop back. I have had a pretty bad couple of months in relation to debt! My Combi boiler 'packed' in and it cost an arm and a leg to repair thus I had to miss last months CCCS payment. I rung them and explained and they let my creditors know! We also had my daughters leaving prom to pay for! Money I accumliated for this was put towards the combi (not all). Our tumble dryer blew up! (Thank god it's summer) The dogs booster is due!

It's just been one thing after another! I have had to go on interest payment only for the mortgage for a while! The thing is these are the things that you would just pop out the CC and pay for it! It makes you realise what you have come accustomed to with credit so easy to obtain previously and it's only now that I realise what a complete shambles my finances were/are! The stress of debt is causing arguements at home because the missus thinks she can still spend as before! She's sick of me going on about money but someone as to get a grip! I am really down at the moment and can't see the light at the end of the tunnel! Could do with some morale support on here _pale_

We are currently ebaying like mad and thats helping. Sorry for the rant!

HI Bolton - if it makes you feel any better I had to reduce my last month's DMP payment because of car tax and mot costs - I know I should have been saving up all year for them both, but had a funeral in December and ended up using savings for food costs and owing £140 for the flight and accommodation for that (and we stayed in a scummy hostel with 4 to a room!).

Now I'm hoping to be back on track and everyone keeps asking whether we are going away on holiday!!! yeah I wish

I know it can be tough, but you're sorting out your finances and just think how much spare money you'll have when the debt is paid and how much you'll be able to do! ;) And like I said the other day - any holiday that is fully paid up in advance with all spending money there in your account before you go away, will be the best holiday ever :)

At least with a DMP with most interest stopped, we don't have to panic about rising credit card interest and extra fees :o

I worked out how much of my debt I had paid and think that after this month I finally hit 20% of my total debt will be paid off. This time last year, I thought it would just increase forever with no way out :o

Thanks for the advice re phoning. I agree I have told DH we have sent the letters off and that is enough. Sure they will probably just put the letters on file but we have done our bit and informed them, they can't say we didn't warn them. We have sent token payments with the letters to cover June payments.

Maybe your hubby is more concerned because he does not realise how common DMPs are etc - my hubby would worry his socks off half my letters but becauseI deal with it all he is fine. What I am trying to say its maybe its anxiety because hes not on here seeing that it is pretty run of the mill!

Not dealt with the CAB for years but a friend has they will need all information about any credit accoutns you have and also if you take details of your outgoings its good better to have too much information than not enough and need to go back again.

They will work out an offer of payment for you and either give you a template letter to send to them or individual letters it depends on the CAB branch small town ones are not so good.

You then regardless of whether they accept or not keep sending the payments each month and seek advice from CAB as to how the creditors deal with things.

Sorry, I didn't go through the CAB so can't offer any advice on this. For the DMP with CCCS they work out the total you have left to pay your debts, then they need all your most recent statements so they can allocate the biggest part of that money to the person you owe the most to. I think that's why there is usually the wait before starting the DMP, while they set it all up and then contact all your creditors for you.

If you do a DMP on your own, you can send what you decide and when you decide.

had my interview today and must say it was much much better than expected - the only thing is once it was all neally over i got very emotional and cried for quite a bit - the adviser was very good and told me to take my time and not to rush

i can not explain why i cried - i dont think it was shame as that emotion is far to familiar to me - nor do i think its was relief because my burden started to lift when i made the first phone call - the best way i can describe it would be that the guy was so understanding and so non judgmental it was like telling your mother, you know the feeling you start to tell the whole truth for the first time and it all comes out, and then becomes too much

perhaps im wrong but to be honest i still feel a bit emotional - i hope it passes as i think i need to be strong

has anyone else had this reaction

Doesn't matter why and I don't think it is anything to worry about. We are all individuals and it affects us each in a different way.

If you're anything like the rest of us, you've probably been drowning in unmanageable debts for ages and the final releif came when you knew it was all being dealt with.

Payplan, CAB, CCCS etc do not judge and are on our side and they've seen it all before and probably will again.

Showing your emotions is no sign of weakness.
