  • This deal was not available when I went to the store in Rayleigh, Essex yesterday morning.
Surely the store was in Thundersley (unless they have moved it)! ;)

I agree, despite the mercury vapours, the dim light, and all the other anti-low energy bulb brigade, I love 'em, I have them every fitting in the house, even the desk lamp has a tube.

Keep the cheap deals coming! I am looking forward to new LED bulb replacements too...sad I know.

I have a low energy boiler, and want a wind turbine as my roof won't take solar panels. I am not a earth warrior, but I do think we need to learn to love the wind turbines, they look kind of sad and lonely on the bleak hill sides, like some sort of modern day Catherine Cookson novel. When Windmills were introduced, people of the time objected to them too, now people want to live in them!

I want a small low energy automatic car, but nothing works for me at the moment.

Is any one else keen on low energy?

Yes, I'm keen too. Next to energy saving lamps I think one of my best buys was a solar powered battery charger (for AA, AAA, 9v batteries etc). It was supposed to charge mobiles too but that bit doesn't work. Got it for about a tenner from Maplins. Never bought another alkaline battery since!
  • Cheaper than e-bay and I thought the deals on that were good!

    Hi,

The bulbs I bought were 60 watts with the normal bayonet fitting. There might have been others on offer but in our local store they were in a bin at the end of an isle with just one kind in.

    Good bargin hunting!!! x

    don't be such a miserable 'b'!

I'm glad some people are concerned about the envirnonment- if we all did our bit instead of moaning and leaving it to someone else the world WILL be a better place.:grouphug:

How's asking someone how they can be excited by lightbulbs being miserable?

  • The rudeness of some of these 4 star moderator wannabes on this site is astonishing. The poor person posted a decent post and it clearly stated it on the front page that is was for a deal for lightbulbs, and that rude person clicked on it and left a rude remark. WHY. It will quickly get buried if its a poor post, there are people joining all the time and it may be of use to someone who perhaps didnt want to search for bulbs. This is what puts people off this site, you cant do that, cant do this, cant say that, I'm telling Martin of you nur nur nur nur. I personally dont post any deals i see now because of these people. You may not have upset that person, but it made me cringe the bloody rudeness of it, there you can tell martin I said a naughty word now :p

You must lead a very sheltered life then if you thought i was being rude and that made you cringe?
I never told Martin anything i didn't even bother to ask a mod to merge it as you can see because it's still here.Funny how it's always the new people that have only been here a month that seem to have a problem. As you said the OP didn't have a problem with it and i told her it wasn't personal so why are you taking it personally?

  • They had them in the Keighley store yesterday, for anyone that's interested.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know where I can get 40w equivalent low energy bulbs that are suitable for use with timers? All the ones I've ever seen say they cannot be used with timers or dimmer switches
  • They had them in Portsmouth city centre store today, just the Philips 60W bayonet ones. 3 for me!

I have no wish to start an argument with you again. We had an discussion before about the fact that you and your friends go around thanking each other for every post so that your thanks tally is grossly inflated, i think it worked out about 20 thanks per post if i remember rightly. Then have all bells and whistles when someone reaches a certain landmark e.g 10,000 thanks. That post mysteriously disappeared when it got to the nitty gritty didnt it? Anyway I got slightly off the track there, I merely stated my opinion about the people who have been members for a while, not cutting new members a certain amount of slack, I find it grossly unfair and please dont take it personally you are certainly not alone. Unfortunately this happens in playgrounds all round Britain. I did ask you a question earlier in this post, there is no need to answer it as I will now ignore your posts as they rarely contain any money saving tips, feel free to carry on policing the site as you wish. To the OP sorry to crash your post like this.
