It's better not to post the same question twice - likely to confuse you and people who are trying to help you.

  • Hi:)

Is it possible to put the full £3600 for the year into a cash ISA account with my current provider and then in the same year transfer all of it to another provider?

    Thanks.

Yes. Obviously, you won't be able to pay any more new money into it until April 6th 2009.

I've given Nationwide notice to transfer my ISA - was going to go RBS or Natwest but have changed my mind. So who would you go to now - Post Office? Any thoughts appreciated, date notice finishes is end of November.

How can you give notice to transfer your ISA?

I was under the impression that it was down to your new ISA provider to request the transfer of funds from your existing provider.

I have to give 60 days notice to withdraw money from the account or loose interest. I know that I don't withdraw it but I give notice and once the notice is up I have 10 days for the new provider to contact them and request the funds

I also had to give notice (30 days) on a fixed-rate Cash ISA, but just specified the maturity date as my required date of transfer on the new provider's transfer form and sent a copy to the old provider for their information.

Thanks, I'd never heard of that before. I've transferred ISA's several times between NS&I, Egg, Kent Reliance and finally Icesave  but never had to give notice, I just opened the new one and asked them to transfer funds from my old one.

Most variable rate/easy access accounts don't require a notice period (although I am aware of at least one bank which requires 90 days notice for its variable rate ISA account).

I have the same ISA, and read somewhere on here (I think it was this thread) that apparently you dont have to give the notice. You only loose 60 days of interest if you withdraw the money, not if you transfer it.
