Does anyone know how long it should take HBOS to transfer over a cash-only ISA to Natwest? I submitted a transfer request last week, and it still hasn't been moved over. When should I start pestering HBOS/Natwest?

    Thanks in advance.

HMRC rules suggest up to 30 days for transfers but many have been reported to take far longer.

How much longer? What's the average wait experienced by people here who have transferred from HBOS?

Don't know about HBOS but I am still waiting for the completion of a transfer from Alliance & Leicester into Lloyds TSB from early last March.
  • Sinc19, I transferred my ISA from Halifax (HBOS is a banking group, not a bank) to Icesave in - from memory - about 2 1/2 weeks in late June/early July 2008. I was quite impressed.

It took months for NR to transfer my ISAs to Icesave, despite my continually being on their case - each blamed the other. I was very worried at one time as to where my ISA's actually were! All came good in the end, but I am now concerned that I have too many eggs in one basket - ie. ISA's and saving with Icesave, although not over the 'safe' limit. I am always on the look out for the best interest rate, but I wonder if there might be a possiblity of a really tempting interest being advertized in order to draw in the cash, only for it to go bust?????
if i had known then what i know now

I transferred my ISA to ICE after reading the article on Martin's site about 6 months ago. However, I'm now a bit concerned about the apparent meltdown of the Icelandic economy and am thinking about transferring again to a UK based ISA. Can I do this so long as I don't contribute more than the yearly allowance (£3600) over the April to April year?

    Cheers

    Yes you can.
  • I'm with Suttonsave on this.
Ignoring (if you will) the hysteria vis a vis words in the press and on forums that begin with "Ice", I am all for good, effective and timely customer service and Icesave recently reminded me of the early days of Egg.
Back then Egg were fast, efficient and able to run rings around the high street banks. Fast forward to 2008 and I would have thought that to get capital in through the door the high street by looking for the benchmark and matching the competition would be a no brainer. The deal is simple; I want an extra 150 quid interest, they want my money, how hard can it be?
    Now I know.
I can only hope and pray that the current crisis does not sacrifice good service and those companies who provide it - or I guess it will be back to the "standing in the NatWest queue" school of process excellence.
  • Hi
I have a question. If Icesave goes belly up when we get our money back can we re-invest in an ISA
