    On the A&L Isa transfer form it ask for
    "Existing ISA Provider address" - Is this my local branch I set it at up, i.e. the address printed on my statements?

    It also asks for;
    "ISA number you want to transfer from" - Is this the account number or roll number? (I'm assuming account)

    Finally, it ask's;
    "I Apply to transfer my existing Cash ISA, as shown overleaf, to Alliance & Leicester plc and to subscribe to this Cash ISA for the tax year;
    1) 2009/10 and each subsequent year until further notice, or
    2) 2010/11 and each subsequent year until further notice."

    It's number "2" I should be ticking right?

    Sorry just want to ensure I get everything 100% correct. I've already applied for the a&l ISA so should get the account details soon.

    I would have thought it quicker for A & L to contact the address of the department that deals with your providers ISA's (Give your local branch a ring to see what they suggest) You would have the account number on each statement. "2" is correct. You will also receive in the post after a few days a letter welcoming you to your new ISA along with some partially filled in transfer forms. The downloaded form is just as easy to use!!

    Can anyone tell me how to open the above account. I have been on their website and every other type of ISA has a bottom saying "Apply now" except the one I want. I have tried to make an appointment at a branch but they are booked up for 2 weeks.

    It doesn't matter what address you write on the "previous ISA provider". Most providers will simply mail them in bulk to the correct address. They certainly won't send it to your local branch or any other random (incorrect) address you give them.

    Thanks, I asked in branch, and they said exactly the same.

    Quick query. When my Halifax ISA ends, it gets moved ot the default ISA type of account, I assume the account number/roll number will remain the same? It hasnt moved yet despite ending, I just want to ensure that when I send the transfer form off with my current account details, it doesn't change to something else later.

    Don't know how Halifax do it. Many providers will move it to a new account number on maturity; some will just change part of the account number; others will keep the same account number but change the rate.

    But in any case, if your transfer form shows the old account number your old provider should be able to work out what you mean.

    Any difference between A&L and Nationwide in terms of transferring old ISA - 2.75% for both with easy access as far as I can see?

    Thanks.:money:
  • I was on the verge of transferring last year's ISA to Dunfermline when I found they hadn't received my paper application form. As a result, the money is now in suspended animation between Dunfermline and the Halifax. As Dunfermline no longer do the fixed rate issue 18, I'm not sure where to put this money now.

    I've thought about putting some of it into shares but don't know where to get impartial advice from. Dunfermline said they would get someone independent to phone me but they haven't.

    Has anyone else transfer an old cash isa into stocks?

    I hope this is just a momentary worry, but I've logged in to my previous ISA and the money has gone. All good and well, but when I log in to my new ISA it hasn't arrived there! Is there likely just to be some delay before it pops up in my new account, or should I start crying?

    They close it.

    Send the money in the post (usually in cheque form).

    They then put the new money in.
