  • No withdrawal penalties, because it's instant access. Best instant access rate at the moment for that size of transfer:

    Hi all.

Regarding Northern Rock's fixed rate cash ISA Issue 127, can anybody confirm if you can transfer ISA's in to it? I have one maturing soon which I'd like to re-invest.

I cant find anything about transfers in the T&C, but the MSE newsletter stated "...The min. balance is £500 and it allows you to transfer in past years ISAs from other providers too..."

Saver Rob, yes you can. I've just applied for this account on-line to transfer my exisiting cash ISA and it allows you to download a Transfer Authority Form
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.
  • I've used my full allowance for this year, and have about 14K in my cash ISA, which is now paying a poor rate.

Any ideas of which providers who will allow you to transfer, without investing any new money for the current tax year.

I'm happy to tie the money up for 12 months & give notice

    Any advise would be appreciated

    Cheers

Isn't this a bit weird? NR, in their Key Facts leaflet about transfers in, say:
If you already have an existing Cash ISA with another provider and wish to transfer to Northern Rock, you will need to advise your current ISA provider who will then make the necessary arrangements (subject to the Terms and Conditions of your existing ISA). We will require a completed application form and you can send this to us directly either with a ‘Cash ISA transfer authority’ form or with a cover letter confirming details of your Cash ISA to be transferred. Alternatively, your ISA provider can forward the form to us together with the transfer documentation.

That's doing it the 'wrong way round' surely? They go on to talk about sending them (NR) a transfer form or a letter, but there's no requirement to tell the current provider is there? Never have before.

    Most places

Look there under ISAs that allow transfers.
  • Hi Lokolo, It would appear at first glance from that list they will let you transfer money in so long as you have already opened an account.I merely wish to transfer previous years cash Isas as a single transaction.

Talked to Northern Rock today and they would (but unfortunately the 12-month fix at 3.50% was pulled just before I rang).

I'm now going to Cheshire B/Soc for 12 months, as they also said it was fine.
