It really doesn't matter what you write in the account number space; it's only there for Nationwide to identify your account. In other words, either should work.
In the space should be the name of the type of account, not the account number. You often won't know that if it's a new account in any case.0 -
Well, I spoke ot Newcastle over the phone. They said the space was for the newcastle BS ISA account number I received in the post.
I haven't had a reply from Nationwide yet, but I imagine your right, so i'll likely put the reference account number in there.0 -
Whoever you spoke to at Newcastle was an idiot or didn't understand the question.
If they wanted your Newcastle account number in that space, it would say "to my Newcastle account number ***********" not "to my Newcastle *********** account".0 -
Hi just a quick question really, sorry if this sounds daft, but I'm looking to transfer my ISA from my lloyds cash isa @ 0.9% to the intelligent finance cash isa @2.75% but to transfer it says you have to open an new current year isa with IF, is this right? given that i already have an isa open for 09/10 with lloyds???? don't wanna risk loosing this years allowance by opening two accounts, IFYKWIMDebt@LBM1=£4050 1st DFD 27/08/09

You can open it yes but you can't contribute (i.e. deposit) any money into it, other than by ISA transfer form. Which means you should open it up with £0.0 -
I notice on the Transfer Cash ISAs page in the 'The Top Rate No-Notice Needed Accounts' section the second best (currently IF) account says no notice periods or penalties when making withdrawals but the best one doesn't? I've never transferred an ISA before, am I definitely allowed to transfer 100% of my old (natwest) ISA into the Abbey account and 100% of the Abbey money after 12 months into whatever is best at the time without charges? Many thanks I'm new at this,

Yes, you can transfer into the Abbey ISA, and out of it without penalty (you don't have to wait 12 months before transferring out, if the rate should drop to an unfavourable one). Don't forget to check that your current one doesn't have any penalties attached (usually fixed rate ISA's have penalties for early withdrawal). (Just a reminder that the Abbey rate is 2% for balances under £9,000).0 -
hi on one part of my new cash ISA form from lloyds it says i will not subscribe and have not subscribed to another cash ISA in the same tax year that i subscribe to this cash ISA, does this mean i cant open another ISA with a better interest rate?
if so is it better to move my £1200 out of the lloyds ISA into their monthly saver which pays 5%(i also have their current account)I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -

You can open a new ISA yes but you cannot subscribe i.e. to put new money into, unless you transfer and haven't used up your ISA allowance.0 -
