  • I find red cabbage done this way freezes great . I tend to cook the whole cabbage at once with onion and apple, brown sugar and red wine and then freeze it into portion
great standby and adds a different color to your meals

Have searched this thread and couldn't find an answer. Can I freeze ricotta cheese?
  • hello everyone,i have just started batch cooking but i always run out of containers to use in the freezer.Ideally i need a container that is quite sturdy with a tight-fitting lid so it can be lifted straight from the freezer and my son can take it to work with him and re-heat the contents(once defrosted obviously) I was just wondering if there is a better way of freezing the food in the first place?? at present i freeze chilli, spag bol, cottage pic, chicken casseroles etc.I also find it difficult to find decent containers that hold 1 portion...any ones that i have seem way to big for 1 portion so im taking up extra freezer space too, have bought quite a few from £ sh0p but dont want to spend more money than necessary.Any help is much appreciated!

  • can you freeze bisto sauce granules? I want to make a fish pie with their parsley sauce but I can't find out if it will freeze and reheat ok. (I've asked them but they can't be bothered to answer).

Failing that, what are the best thickeners for freezing and reheating?

    Thanks!

That is a difficult one to answer. If it had been factory frozen and packed, then it may be OK, but if you bought it "fresh" then froze it yourself, then there are a lot of unanswered questions about its provenance.
    I wouldn't risk it personally.

How good is your freezer? What sort of freezer is it? I'd eat it...may not taste as good as fresh but no harm in cooking it up and trying it.

    How well wrapped is it?
I think I'd use it if it was wrapped nice and tight so no air got in there.
I think I already have eaten salmon that old :)
