No more coupons at Asda!!!!!

My take on this is, if you ask CS "do you take Sonmerfield coupons", they are likely to say yes, whereas if you ask "do you take Somerfield coupons even if I don't buy the product" they will probably say no. They don't want to get in trouble do they? And it really doesn't sound right letting you use another supermarket's vouchers and not buying the product, even though at the tills that's what you can do.
I'm building up my nerve on this one. Yesterday I went for the spotty youth on the till, he was dubious about my Somerfield vouchers and asked the girl on the next till, who said yes. I'll be looking out for her next time
Got £6 off a £24 shop, not bad :j 0 -
I work as a Checkout Operator for Asda & it's no wonder you're all getting confused, we do too! Ask three different managers the coupons policy & you'll get three different answers. Today I asked a manager & he said if it's an Asda voucher, like what the Asda magazine have or is branded Asda, you have to buy that product, if not as long as we stock it we'll take the coupon, providing it's in date & we only take three of each coupon & 10% of the bill. I e-mailed Asda House & they said we do take internet coupons, the amount customers are able to use is at the stores descretion, but it's in their interests to accept them providing they're in date & customers don't have to buy the product unless it's an Asda coupon. But then I went in to get my Harry Potter book & the manager on nights agreed to let me use £4-00 in coupons against it
So, I guess we'll all remain confused but can always hand over more & hope they're a Q Buster or new/uninformed & just put them through! 0 -

Thanks for your post.
To all Mse users......
Would it be easier for each of us to print the shops policy on coupons and show it to the cashier before we put the shop through?
Shouldn't we always use customer services in the shop if there is a problem?
We all like to learn new ideas everyday. This will not only help the newer cashiers and maybe the ones that have worked as cashiers for a longer time, but also save the embaressment. The next person behind you waiting might not be so cheesed off.
A good tip is to try to use a cashier you have used before as previously mentioned in earlier posts.
If your right make sure that customer services take your coupons.Remember
the c/s staff may also need the advice, via your letter.Be calm and become
their company trainer for a few minutes.Make sure you get their names if you get any problems and contact HQ.Remind them at HQ of the inconvienience(you may get a sweetener). At least then the staff will be up to par on your next shop as I'm sure HQ will have informed them.(take the persons' name at HQ for ref.)
Keep your receipt and coupons as you will need that to get your refund and maybe a sweetener from the shop the next time you visit.(Just make sure your coupons are in date when you go back)
Finally make sure that the person at HQ understands the policy. If not speak to someone who does.Use www.saynoto0870.com for geographical numbers
if C/S is not a freephone number.0 -
desire, are you allowed to use coupons in addition to your discount card?52% tight0
-
the answer to that is yes, yes, yes.
i have been working at asda for over six months no % limited in th estore i work at. but we onlt accept tesco vouchers, so no sommerfield or sainsbury vouchers can be used. as far as i know if we sell the product ( like i know every product) we will do the coupon. my personal rule of thumb is if it is in date and it scans take it. I have had ishues at an nother store though with manufacures coupon (from complaing/congratulating) and they said only 10% i pointed out however the coupon clearly states for the full value of the goods , thats 100% if i had only brought that product.
we get 10% staff discount and the discount comes off before the vouchers weather you hand in the card in before or after the vouchers.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Just back from a holiday in Somerset I used around £200 coupons in Bridgewater Asda over four days, never challenged once and no apparent limit on total redeemed or variety, I made several visits and got bolder each time, on my last visit I purposely used fourteen pounds of the same coupon and no problem whatsoever so all you Bridgewater savers start clipping those coupons,
I also had similar success in the Sainsbury's just around the corner on the same site Bridgewater Retail Park I believe it was, spent nearly £140 coupons in there in five visits, no challenge and no apparent limit.
All of my shops I paid no more than 90p in cash the biggest being 90p the smallest zero on four occasions and a big smile on the cashiers face when the till drawer pops open and not a penny to pay!
Also Minehead Tesco (this is right on top of the Butlins site)took bucketfulls of coupons no problem several cashiers used no challenge.
Nearly forgot to mention Taunton Tesco few trips there no challenge on any occasion took the bill down to pennies each time.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Ben500 Where do you get so many coupons from??Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0
-
'fourteen pounds of the same coupon and no problem whatsoever '
thats incredible!0 -
OoO I wish we took more than 10%, I don't understand why we don't as like Asda House say, it's in the stores interests to accept them. Like I say tho, I did get my HP for £3.16 by using coupons & discount card (Mum is right, the discount comes off first) << I only realised that the other day after all this time working for them. At our store we accept Sainsburys, like £8 off if you spend x amount, not sure if we take Somerfields as one yesterday was refused. *All confused*0

Went in to my local Asda (Canterbury) today and the cashier took £5 worth of Somerfield and Tesco vouchers off a £33 shop, no problems. These are vouchers cut out from the magazines, and there was more than one of the same voucher. I still don't have the nerve to offer more than this sort of amount, though the girl didn't mind at all and would have taken more, I'm sure!0
