No more coupons at Asda!!!!!

I went to Asda on Saturday and tried to use some of my coupons for products I hadn't bought. The sales assistant said Asda no longer accepted coupons unless you bought the product.
In the past they have allowed coupons to the value of 10% of your shopping if you haven't bought the product. I reminded her of this and she said yes we did allow this but not any more.
I would have asked for further confirmation on this had I not been at the furthest till away from customer services and if it hadn't been so busy.
Is this just in my local store or is it happening in yours too?

No probs with my Asda. Used two coupons on two items less than one hour ago. They seem to be getting tighter but not stopping it!0

What?!? This doesn't sound good. I hope that it was just a one-off by a misinformed checkout operator. I'll have to try out my local Asda and see what happens..."By not unsettling men, you will reassure them. By unsettling men either through timidity or malice, you are always compelled to keep a knife in hand." - Niccolo Machiavelli, 1469-15270

This is not true.
Last night I used £10 worth and had not bought one product in relation to the vouchers.
Also Asda refused some tesco vouchers last week, so I called head office and in way of an apology for the stores error they sent me a gift card!
Get on the phone number can be found at https://www.asda.comLike my avatar, took the photo myself with the free digital camera I bought from boots with all my free points! I love moneysaving.0 -
I also went to my local ASDA on sat. The friendly checkout operator :A took all of my sainsburys coupons, and a couple more besides. Total saving just shy of 15%0

Was in Asda about an hour ago. Customer services told us that they won't accept coupons unless you've bought the product.

The only way to know for sure is to call Asda head office to ask if their policy has changed. I carry a letter with me all of the time from Asda HO so that if I get any operators who don't know, make up, or think they know the policy I can put them right with the letter. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0

I rang Crewe Asda and was told only 5% of the bill but yesterday she took a £1 coupon off a £10 bill. Stoke take 10% - I checked with the cusotmer service and the cashier knew this as well.
Does anyone shop at Stafford Asda or Winsford.
Mind you thye are supposed to be the cheapest supermarket in Britian so cant really complain

Fair enough really. I always assumed that this was the case. It says on most coupons that you need to buy the product.0
