Do Tesco still accept coupons from Sainsburys? I think I must be very unlucky as I always seem to pick the till with stroppy staff.

I called into Tesco last night and tried to use a coupon from Sainsburys. The operator called a floor supervisor who said " I've worked here 4 years and we have never accepted coupons from other stores as we don't get refunds for them!"

I pointed out that a I had used them before and was told again we do not accept them. Is it worth the embarrassment of standing there arguing?

I have used Sainsburys vouchers in the past and had no trouble. I dont think that I would bother arguing too much though - just try a different store (if you have another close enough) or a different cashier.

I shopped at Asda on Wednesday and was quoted that they would take 10% of my total bill...

Can I just be clear is this they won't accept coupons for products you have not bought and not that they will not take vouchers from other supermarkets. The two are quite separate issues.

There seem to be people asking and saying they accept supermarket vouchers (IE spend x have what ever off) and those who are talking about product vouchers (IE buy x and get 10p off)
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

I shopped in Asda Watford yesterday, spent £75, and they took £7.50 off in vouchers.

I have still got about £15 of vouchers left from the Zing magazines, and about £36 in Joey vouchers.
  • Skipton, used vouchers in my local Walmart on Saturday and they accepted them even though I didnt purchase the item. Morrisons wont accept vouchers have already tried.

I think it depends on the sale staff who serve you. PF

Excellent. Its only 10% at Stoke and 5% at Crewe Asdas.

I have got fed up the daytime staff with Crewe Tesco so shopping at the moment takes a lot of stratergy. I managed to go in one evening and found my favourite cashier who took coupons no problem. Apart from that I've had to do a big Tesco shop on line and husband had to go in once for me because I couldnt face the hassle

Yes, it is worth going to differnt stores. Waitrose in St. Albans will only take six coupons per shop, but they don't care how much these coupons add up to, yet Waitrose in WGC will take as many as you've got quite happily. Incidently, their mag. is usually a good source of coupons, but you do need a John Lewis card to get it free. (Or you could say you have one, they never check, but this would be dishonest...) :D
  • Went into Asda in Leamington Spa today and they accepted a variety of vouchers, Somerfield, Tesco, Zing, newspaper etc against my bill even though I had not bought any of the products. It was about £15 off a £20 bill I think.

It seems to vary between stores and also between cashiers (go for the spotty youths even if you have to wait longer in the queue!)

    Good luck
