RSPCA Rehoming: What Happens?

I see you are in Lincolnshire.My mum has just adopted a dog from this place,and the lady who runs it is lovely.I'm sure she will have something suitable.

awwww.... the 2 yorkies are adorable! .... " Basil likes to stand facing the wind and getting his fur ruffled!" :rotfl:...... when you get a dog from the RSPCA it normally involves a house check (although we didnt)... and you going to the RSPCA center to view your dog... when we got our dog from the RSPCA i think it cost around £80 .. although it might of changed now

just had a look and she has a pair of yorkies needing a home!!

Oh my! Thank you, they are absolutely beautiful! I'd love to run right down there now and get them!

Will point out out to mum when she gets in My late father was called Barry and had the nickname Basil so those poor darlings would be perfect, thank you!

She does say she goes quite far afield.It might be worth contacting her and just asking,as she is so dedicated i am sure she would bring them to you,after a chat over the phone to assess suitability.I am sure 70 miles is not out of the question,or do you know anyone who would drive you there.?

When she came to my mums with the dog after we had been to the kennels and met him,she brought him with her.It was a lovely informal chat(i was there as i will be helping take him out) and she made us feel so at ease.Never asked any difficult questions just went by gut feeling,as she told us.

Do let us know if you do decide to contact her.The one my mum has taken is still there on the site,called Patch and he had been in kennels for far too long.He is a really lovely happy and affectionate dog.One or 2 bad habits,he wants to sleep on the bed with her!! but i am sure he will get less clingy once he trusts us all.

I've rang the lady but got no answer, however last night I got an email back saying there had been lots of people interested in Tiffy and Basil and they were being fostered at the minute so it didn't look likely

However.

This morning I had a call back from our local branch of the RSPCA. She'd been ringing round for us since we rang and made enquiries and hadn't had any luck - however she had just had a call an hour ago for a woman looking for a home for a three year old yorkie!!!!! As it's not through the RSPCA (ie living in the kennels) it would be free (though if the woman said she wanted money for it we're apparently to say no)

We're now waiting for the lady to ring after the RSPCA pass on our number so we're very excited and crossing all fingers and toes! Watch this space

Yes the lady from 3 counties is very busy,there is always a dog to be rescued or a home check to do.However she got in touch with my mum pretty quick after the initial enquiry.I should imagine yorkies are fairly easy to rehome,it is the older larger dogs that are a problem.Some of the cases on there are so sad.

Anyway,good news about the RSPCA ,i do hope you hear soon about the yorkie,do let us know what happens.Sounds ideal!!

The lady rang around 1ish and by quarter past 2 he's ours

He is called Tyson though which he doesn't answer to so to save ourselves heartbreak we're going to call him 'Mickey'.

He's very underweight though He's skin and bone though is a lovely happy affectionate baby who plays well. He'll get the best of everything now

Well that is just amazing.People slag the RSPCA off so much but they have certainly gone the extra mile to help both you and that beautiful little dog.Did the woman say why she was wanting rid of him?

I hope everything works out for you. If anyone is looking to rehome a pure breed dog remember that every breed registered with the Kennel Club has a rescue organisation. These are mainly funded by breed club members. Ring the KC in London and they will give you the breed club nersrest to you and they will inform you about rescue and rehoming in your area.
