One of my ideas would be a branded bottle opener (or keep fresh bottle cap/stopper). Dieago are already one of the companys who use matter so maybe they would produce these.
Maybe a Golden Ticket would be good aswell, something like 1 in 1000 boxes win something fantastic? Or is that asking too much seen as it is free?
Would people pay a subscription free for one of these? I think if it was say £10 a year for a quarterly box (4boxes a year) to cover postage id still go for it.2008 Competition Wins: £200 Cash (Boffer's Youtube Bag O' Crap Video Competition 2)
2009 Competition Wins: Monopoly Deal Card Game, Wild Bean Cafe Coffee Hamper, 2 Mars Bounce Football's, a £10 Magnum® Pleasure Card
2010 Competition Wins: Lucozade 8Gb iPhone 3GS........hopefully more soon0 -

Its not coming in April now, this is a copy of an email from Matter.
Since writing to you, we've had to re-think our plans and won't be doing an April edition, unfortunately.
We’re rethinking some aspects of Matter including making boxes more relevant to people–rather than one box that goes to everyone. We believe the boxes will be better when they’re more relevant and so we’re adapting our publishing schedule to reflect this.
We’re working on the exact details right now and we’ll write to you to let you know when to expect it.
My apologies for any confusion, disappointment or inconvenience. Matter is new and we’re developing it as we go.
If you have any other questions, do please get in touch.
Very sorry for the confusion
Warm regards.
Tim

Thanks for the update Sarah. The original Matterbox concept was always supposed to be targeted marketing rather than "one box fits all" so I'm not surprised they've had a rethink and decided to go with the original plan.
They must have a huge database of potential customers now so let's hope they are able to pull it off, it's a great idea.
Here's wishing them every success :beer:0 -

I signed up a while ago, (October, I think) but havent received anything. But to be fair, I guess there are only a limited number of boxes available.
The things that I have had as freebies and really appreciated (as well as gone on to purchase full-size) have been face creams (Nivea, Loreal), shower gels (Original Source & Dove), chocolate, reuseable hand warmer (from a heating company, but I dont have it with me and I cant remember who it was from) scarf/pashmina & fabric softener (from Comfort - lovely!) and shampoo (Herbal Essenses, Pantene). Also, perfumes/aftershaves whether on cards or the little bottles - both have come in handy and we've often gone on and bought the full size. Also, things like washing powder (through the door sample) always get used (and often bought too, if it smells nice!) and little packs of coffee! (From Kenco, I think!) Hot Chocolate (Skinny Cow!) was nice - I had that at work!
I do like to 'try before I buy', and with the vast majority of freebies I've had over the years, if it's any good, I have gone and bought the product where I may not have done if I hadnt have had the opportunity to try it first. So, I do think that Matter is a great concept for targeted advertising.I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum
Cos how can you be gloomy, when the sun shines out your bum?0 -
