To call yourself a bank, and then not have more than £250 per customer available without advance notice is a joke.

A proper bank would have no problem with this kind of request - but if you will insist on using one of these micky-mouse organisations for the sake of an extra 2% interest...well, you get the service you deserve.

    I totally agree.

Why do people put up with banks like this? There IS an alternative: I have banked with the Co-op (and now Smile) for more than five years, and really, if people knew how good they were then most of the other banks would go out of business.

Couldnt agree more, was with Halifax untill moved to Smile some years ago, can pay in money and withdraw from any post office, customer service is really good and I dont say that often, you would have to hold a knife to my throat to make me move to another bank now

  • Blimey, this is bad news for me. I have just signed up to them to escape Nationwide. I can't help thinking there is a certain amount of luck involved here as to the sort of service you get. Most people I speak to have had trouble with their banks, I have had bad service with every bank I have used, and that includes the Co-op (although it was 15 years ago). Maybe they all take it in turns to be good one year and then crap for the next five?
I just can't be happy today

    Hi,
A and L are the rudest, most incompetent idiots I have ever dealt with.

I needed to involve the Financial Ombudsman as they were refusing to re-imburse my mothers credit card ac after she had been a victim of fraud identity.

One letter from the FO and they apologised and reimbursed plus interest etc

Cant speak lowly enough of them
    Regards
    Anne

PS I love First Direct, when you ring you speak to a person straight away and they are very helpful. Also easy access via internet and telephone.

 Oh dear. I've just signed up to A&L for a Premier Plus account. So far they've only spelt my wife's surname wrong (but mine correctly - d'uh!) and totally ignored a R85 form she sent in to claim gross interest.

So far I'd rate all their call centre staff on a scale from "not helpful" to "downright rude".

Will write more about them when I have more news...

I've withdrawn £5800 in cash over the counter from my natwest account before now, and gave about 2hrs notice - no problems at all.

They even took me upstairs so I could count it without the whole queue seeing!

So it's not all banks that behave in this way... Vote with your feet and go elsewhere!
