Hi Dave. I've seen those army people getting taught how to wash out of a billy-can outdoors. Saw it on TV though. I'm not a peeping tom.
Caroline, my children use big towels for the shower, then the towels get washed. I just give them a hand towel for a top and tail, as it saves having to wash another bath towel. I think I need to get some of these!

when I was working I washed everytime my shift finished so everyday...but since becoming ill it has sort of slipped some what towels once a month on a boil wash I shower once a day but not if I am not up to it...don't have a bath so can't have one of them...I wash my DS's jeans once aweek or sooner if he want's them earlier...t-shirts and tops/slacks every second day...I wait to get a full wash load and wash on an evening at 9pm time as it is suppose to be cheaper or so someone told me many years ago...and put the tumble dryer on at night as it keeps the kitchen and lounge warm for a couple of hours so no need for any heating...I don't see the point in doing a half load which my washer deosn't have anyway...so the washer goes on about 3-4 times aweek for 2 adults...:Dbeds stripped and washed once amonth...dog beds and cat beds about once a fortnight...
Plans for 2009
1/ Get fit. 2/ Get my figure back. 3/ Get the MAN BACK! :kisses2::happylove
contrary to popular belief, I am all Woman.0 -
Towels & sheets I only have white, so the towels need to be changed daily, but I have 6 of each. 6 jumbos, 6 head, 6 fannels.
I HATE with a vengence coloured towels, I think people who don't change their towels often enough use coloured towels to hide the dirt.
White towels you can see if they are dirty.0 -
We have a smallholding so we wear overalls and I cover my hair - the other half is bald LOL!! Wash every 2 - 3 weeks except for underwear and T shirts. If I washed jeans and sweatshirts every time they got a bit of shimud would spend the day - and all the money, on washing. Have a wood burning stove and solar water tank to heat water. Soak underwear and T shirts every 2 days, wash by hand. Shower every other day except in summer when we need to shower more often. Water bill between 50 and 60 pound a year and electricity 30 pounds a month. We are happy with that keep the dosh from running down the drain :0)0

Well these days I have to say its a lot easier with the smoking ban.
I could never wear anything twice back then, disgusting just taking off a jumper or t shirt (pulling it over your head).
I honestly dont miss those days either. Everything is cleaner.0 -
In my Royal Marine training hygiene is very important so we were using the shower every morning, after every physical training session, before evening meal and before bed. We even give the Army a nick name of being "pongos" because where ever they go the pong goes !
When it came to washing clothes, we had to wash everything we wore that that day. So you can imagine how much much i was paying out for that!
Now thankfully I wear tops a couple of times and jeans a few times unless when going out when i'l just wash it the next day. After the gym, the kit is straight into the wash.Current remaining debt to pay:

That sounds a little crazy! I have coloured towels because i like the colour. I have a few but only do one wash a week.
I seem to be the same as most people, tshirts and undies one wear trousers about a week. If I have only worn a tshirt for an hour or so (going to the shop etc) it gets worn again.
I hate to be wasteful with electric and water, there is no need to wash everything all the time! I think its probably better for you to be a bit lax than to manic about it.0 -

Jeans - depends on how much squashed up banana the kids have managed to smear on them. If I can get away with it, 3 or 4 days.
Tops and underwear - daily.
I don't have any other clothes at the moment.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
shame on you !!! for not caring about the effects on the environment .... no need to have clean clothes every day , i shower every morning and wash every nite ...roll on deodrant ,clean underwear every day same top for 2 sumtimes 3 days ,jeans / trousers last about a week . guess im lucky ,i only wear my clothes to go to work ...change into uniform which gets washed complimentary so own clothes are only on for matter of hours.....as for kids ...same uniform all week .gets a quick wipe if theres any mucky marks.change after school, ..same trousers all week top changed twice. save energy by washing darks and colours at 30 degrees . think mr wash your clothes everyday has obsessive compulsive disorder....0

 white towels will not show dirt if you have washed properly doh !!!!
As for using coloured ones....why not ?? i use both kinds ...towels get changed every 3rd day ,not cos they are dirty or smelly but cos i LIKE the smell and feel of fresh towels
my washing machine has an economy wash programme ,dont have water meter but am very aware of waste so machine only goes on when it is full.
theres more to energy saving than how much water is used ...maybe im away on a tangent ...???0
