I'm getting around 8 calls per day from HSBC (various depts) most of which i either don't get to the phone in time (cos i'm running around after the highly active 11 month old) or i answer and then the operators don't say anything at all. When i do get to speak to them, they're really rude to me- as soon as they find out that i won't be making a payment over the phone they refuse to let me talk, constantly cutting me off and talking over me. They keep making notes that i've told them i'll pay money in each week (normally £10) despite the fact that i tell them i don't have a single spare £1 to pay in. They also won't corrispond by mail only (today she said 'because you're account is overdrawn you will keep receiving calls until you bring the account to £0'). And they ignor me when i say i'm receiving advice from the CCCS. This is making me feel terrible and i panic everytime my phone rings.

I'm still waiting for Abbey to close a joint account so i can go bankrupt (i'm having several issues there!) I don't know what to do- i know its better to be upfront with the bank (i still haven't told them i'm going bankrupt) but i just feel like avoiding they're calls until its all over. Its even causing arguments between my OH and me because he thinks if i don't answer ALL their calls then they'll just pass me onto their debt collection agency and that they take me to court!
  • If you are going BR really soon please don't worry about all the phone calls (I know its easier said than done)

I didn't pay a penny for about 3/4 mths before I went BR, I either didn't answer the numerous calls or answered them and just put them next to a very loud speaker!
  • We were bombarded with calls by TSB, mostly from a call centre in India , they would start from 7am- til I think the latest was around 11pm, we never answered ANY of them! However there was only a short time between the last payment to the creditors and BR...............but it took absolute ages for the info of our BR to filter through and the ringing to stop.
Dont answer them, just let the answer phone or 1571 pick up any messages :)

Would CCCS not contact them on your behalf ?

Got another letter from HSBC today about my credit card- it says i have 7 days to contact them or my account will be handed over to a debt collection agency.

Everytime i've spoken to them in the past they've been really unhelpful and i can't really afford to phone an 0845 number. They never try to call me but they do send txt mesages to my mobile asking me to call them on another 0845 number.

Is it important that i call them or can i ignor them for a bit longer?? I'm filling in forms for bankruptcy this weekend but i don't know how long it'll be until i actually go bankrupt?!

CCCS haven't been especially helpful really- when i call them they answer my question then say goodbye & hang up. They make me feel pretty awkward to be honest.

personally I would ignore phonecalls and do everything via letter, if it hasnt gone to a DCA yet there miles off court and baliffs, just ignore them and try and ride it out until your bankruptcy date.

If your filling the forms in I would telephone the Court and find out if its appointments or dropin becasue it was a 3 week wait for me, so the sooner you book it the better (you can always cancel/rescheduel if needed).
"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"
