LLU I think. What is ADSL?
  • ADSL is the service used by most providers, it uses BTs kit in the exchange, with LLU the provider sticks their own kit in the exchange, which can, potentially, lead to better speeds for a lower price.
not all LLU suppliers are equal, however, providers such as BE, O2 and Sky do have a very good reputation for their LLU offerings, but the usual suspects of Talk Talk, Aol, tiscali/pipex etc continue their reputation for poor service regardless of equipment.
use kitz exchange check to see which are available to you. bear in mind that if sky isn't available as LLU in your exchange, then it is not a sensible option, and that if adsl / adsl max is available (almost certainly) you can chose from pretty much any supplier you like, though your £15 price point rules out the majority of the decent players to provide at that price (on BT kit), compromises have to be made, with support, allowance, throttling, backhaul etc.. Plusnet have been named in this thread, an at the price point they are probably the best (non LLU) bet, at least they are honest and transparent about the way they manage the connection.

I have been with Tiscali for 3 years paying £14.99 a month. Tried to get them to reduce monthly repayments, but they refused after spending 30 mins hanging on phone. I am looking for a provider maybe with telephone. Anyone suggest one with good customer service and cheaper than the above. Thanks
I reduced my Tiscali monthly costs by changing my contract on line. Didn't speak to anyone. I've done it twice now. The first time was over 18 months ago, when I reduced my monthly costs from £25 pcm to £15 for 2 meg only. Then again in Jan this year when I transfered my BT calls & line rental to Tiscali & upgraded to 8 meg. I'm now saving £20 pcm because Tiscali offer free line rental in their Option 1 package, plus free weekend calls on 01, 02 & international. I think it is the best deal going at present.
