Is there any point in buying that nice new purse if you have no money to put in it?

Awww hun, i wasn't being horrible, i think you know where you're going wrong, and at least you have made a friend out of the whole situation so that's another positive.... and no, you really didn't need another purse!

moneymaker2, I got to say well done for realising the problem with purchasing this expensive stuff now, honestly once you are debt free you will be able to splash out a wee bit more...how do you know that your boss isn't in huge amount of debt, you know what they say, the higher the income the higher the outgoings, larger house, new car, etc. She may well be in the same position as you money wise but she hasn't had her LBM yet.

Maybe my head thinks this is what got her the job and I must do the same. Am I convincing anyone else yet?

I think there is maybe a small element to this.

Just reading this post I quoted and the next one I think you are replying a big tongue in cheek which is good but I think there is real meaning in there.

You are justifying everything and when we go down that route it mean we still have accepted that what we are doing has to stop.

Draw a line under it, anything you have bought in this spree cannot be taken back that's OK mistakes have been made just don't do them againwink.gif

This reminds me of the old phrase "women don't dress up for men, they dress up for other women"

...Just remember you don't have to compete, you have only got to look around the office or the playground and the above phrase is sooo true, and do you know what, those woman are no happier than you, they are always aspiring to the next expensive top/coat/shoes etc.

    Enjoy who you are...

Just one quick comment for this, none of us know this bosses financial situation, for all we know they could have just as much credit card debt, or loans to fund a lavish lifestyle, and this 400 a month so called disposable income could be paying back credit cards.

Either way why worry about what others are doing?

This is known as keeping up with the joneses in financial circles, and is probably the biggest killer of financial independance.

Focus on your own goals, and dreams, focus on how to get them and forget about living the lifestyle of someone else, as it may not be as fulfilling as you think.
  • I realise the error of my ways. This is just a temporary blip, I know because I cleared alot off our debt last year.
It doesn't help that I am married to mr spend now think about it later. I said I don't think I could justify spending £60 on a top and he was like ''oh if you like it then get it, i'll pay'' and him saying those few words made it acceptable to me. because it was ''him'' buying not me.. Grrr it goes out of a joint account. We both brought it.
Really mad at myself now. Right will keep myself busy cleaning the house today and tomorrow so that I won't go out and spend money. Back to work on Wednesday for 1/2 the day, Will be quite glad that I cannot get to the shops or obtain internet access to the websites I love.
