still havent heard about job, ive rung union etc and they say its a huge gamble to take fixed trm contract, as i have a permanant contract, but we merge with another trust in april so everyone will be uncertain of thier jobs etc then, so there will be huge changes then, but sick of going into work working on unsafe numbers, being exploited, not being able to give the care that people need, no recognition for the job im doing, and having to spend half the working day borrowing equipment from other wards.
and feel if it dont try ill never know.

Exactly - if you don't try it, you'll never know.

It could be the best thing you'll ever do in your career and I echo all the comments you make about resources etc. I'm guessing you're on the wards in a clinical capacity.

When the Trust merges, there will be lots or projects etc whilst the departments are sorting themselves out - it won't be a quick thing if I know the NHS so if the contract ends, I think you'd find something else within the Trust. I guess the only down side is you possibly losing the permanent status of your current position, although if you took it as a secondment rather than a contract then they have to either back fill your current job or keep it open for you.

I knew of one person who was hopping from job to job every 12-18 months or so and couldn't go back to her original job as it didn't exist - she was well and truly 'looked after'.
