I'm sorry, but I can't believe how stupid a lot of these people are ...

Especially the woman buying a flat a in Thamesmead because she wanted to rent it out to professional tenants. Anyone who knows that area (and I do) knows that it is NOT an area that will ever attract professional tenants - it's a c**phole, and a dangerous one at that. Are people so greedy (and brainless) that they don't even visit an area before they buy a BTL there??

While we're here, can anyone point me at that company that calls itself a bank but isn't really, and is actually a property construction company where you buy off-plan gradually, sort of like an endowment done backwards? I was telling a friend over lunch and she doesn't believe me.

Thank goodness this stuff we've known about for months/etc is out in the public domain. And Mr & Mrs Average can see/hear it for themselves.

While they probably won't believe it, it's one more message out there... people don't believe anything until they have to and/or it affects somebody close to them.

They will even relish the info that their enemy lost £100k on a property next door, yet not even entertain the concept that theirs too has lost this and the only difference is they aren't selling .... today.

I can't believe some people bought without seeing. I'd definitely have to see the property, even if I paid a local independent person to pop by.

And as for not doing independent research on rents (information easily gleaned from letting agents, websites, newspapers, gumtree) ... it beggars belief!
