    I've been Money Tipped!
I am sure I read some where that fresh bread and fresh coffee are supposed to be good for smells to have when selling.

    Makes it feel homely!

I know - they smell like wee - we came back from holiday once in Feb to a terrible smell and it was some miniature narcissi I had - paperwhites - that were supposed to be fragrant, but smelt awful!

Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to reply. Some lovely ideas there! Re my cat, she is extremely clean and I do ask family and friends if you can tell I have a pet in the flat they all say that you wouldn't know.

She has a litter tray with a roof on it and its cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis.

I do like the idea of a bowl of lemons in the kitchen and the tumble dryer sheet behind the radiators. I have a couple of weeks so shall try some of them beforehand.

  • I'd say that burning some essential oils would be a great way to get a welcoming feeling. Orange oil is very cheering. Or you could try a destress blend. My favourite is 3 drops lavender, 2 drops lemon and 2 drops bergamot - with the added bonus of once you've finished perfuming your house, the rest can be used by yourself in the bath to help you sleep...bliss :)

John Lewis lavender furniture polish. (not a spray polish) I use this if I have company and it smells lovely and old fashioned. You have to use sparingley and buff it up really well.

I have an aromastone - it warms up when you plug it in and you put on it some essential oils - try cinnamon, orange, and cloves mixed together - really nice and I have 2 cats who rarely use the litter tray but it still smells when they have done it and although we dont smell it other people do!
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j

That sounds lovely. :) My cat only eats dried food, Iams, she's fussy  so her toilet is only dried. It really doesn't smell, well unless I put my nose right into it..:D..and as the litter tray has a roof on it, you really can't smell it. I asked a friend of mine recently, who doesn't own any pets, and she said you couldn't tell I had a cat.

I used to babysit for a friend. As soon as they had gone out, I looked for the plug in airfresheners and switched them all off!

quote=belfastgirl23;8403583]I'd say don't use the plug in things. They can be very overpowering and personally I'd assume you had something to hide. Also for people with asthma or breathing problems they can trigger an attack. I have to say if I was faced with a fresh one of these in a house I was viewing I'd not be able to stick it for long.

Personally I think the opening windows followed by tumble dryer sheet down the back of the radiator is best. I love essential oils and candles etc but again if I found something like that burning I'd be immediately suspicious :)[/quote]

Tesco Naturally range does a lovely air freshener which is really just essential oils and water and smells like real fresh flowers. I use that but I also like yankee candles "Clean Cotton".

    Good luck Lou
