how do you get the extra points on skincare vouchers ? I went into the Stirling branch and used my advanatge card for the first time last week, purely to get the voucher and use this offer, but it never gave me any details of that deal. Are these offers random ? or are they customer dependant ?
neil
The offers from the machines do appear to be quite random. Vary from person to person, store to store and sometimes even machine to machine!0 -
watch out dundee - a refit could mean the removal of food n drink
they would be daft if they did - it is city centre and very very busy!
ok seaniboy - did you break it the machine0 -

Having read this thread I thought I 'd go into my local boots last week and see if the vouchers were on my advantage card- I also took in my cousins card as well as the missus' one.
Surprise surprise, all bar 1 machines were broken but they had the skincare vouchers for the cucember range - 100 points on my card and 150 on the missus- so I plucked up enough courage and did two seperate transactions and got the points.
Anyway have been back since a cuple of times to check the offers- again always check all 3 cards just incase the offers are different, but hadn't used it till yesterday, when I went in to use the 10% off voucher as well as redeem some points and get the toyas as i had enough voucher.
Anyway, when I got tp the till a lady asked me to join another queue; i presumed so she could speed up the service prior to lunch, but she asked me if i had toy vouchers and then enquired as to whether i had an advantage card.
I handed it over , and she announced that they had been watching me on cctv and said that i was pulling a 'scam' as i was using three cards. She also claimed that I was buying goods from their store and returning it at another just to get the toy tokens- the fact that I had bought cosmetics , which are excluded from being returned seemed to have been ignored. She mentinoed that I also was using temp cards and from that getting more and more cards- when in fact I had ionly picked up a leaflet to see the terms and conditions.
She claimed that I had not signed my card and I was breaking the rules by using my wifes card when I had my own. As far as i was aware it was not a credit card so what if i use my wifes card and don't sign mine.
Anyway i was flabagasted and asked to speak to the manager and security offered to go and get him but this lady said that it wasn't necessary as she wasn't accusing me of anything but merely passing a warning! (Yeah right!)
Anyway I paid for my goods and claimed my toys- which are not worth the price they are charging for them, and said once i clear my card i will not be using them again.
Basically i think that the reason they had approached me was that I got the bonus points from them a week earlier- £127.50 in fact and that they were hacked off about it.
The moral is that those of you with points on their cards be aware that boots may try and warn you off , basically because you are being savvy and exploiting faults at their end.Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
Crikey, that's a little worrying! Also, do they really have the right to do that? I can't really see what you were doing wrong.
I'm always in Boots, they know I "exploit" their loopholes!0 -
Sounds like a jobsworth to me. If they are stupid enough (or clever enough to shift stock this way and lock your money into their store) then tough luck - they made the offers available.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Hmmm - going into town this afternoon, to claim my last 2 toys and to see if they have put the 2000 points on that went missing from my last .com order (spent over £100). I'm umming and ahing about whether to get the tv/dvd combi, which my local store have in, or wait for the tv/dvd/vcr combi, which I'll probably have to travel for. Might just get the tv/dvd today while I have the points - I can always take it back if I decide I want the other, and I don't use it.
Anyone got one of the 3 in 1's? Can't decide whether I want the video facility (which I use) and forgo stereo/teletext, or keep my old video and go for the stereo/teletext on the dual machine. ???
BTW - I always put my card in all machines to see if there are different offers - not found any yet though!0 -
Can we ask which store this was in del_boy_gupta?0

It was one of the larger north London branches.
I can't beleive that this is a scam, yet when i have clearly seen people ask other customers ifhte y can pay for their goods using a gift card in return for money in front of the staff- that this is not worse.
I hate to bring the issue up because i beleive that we live in a far away society from 20 to 30 years ago but I do wonder if my skin tone colour had anything to do with me being approached?Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
That's quite an incident! Be really interesting to hear if anyone else gets this treatment from other stores, ie whether it's company policy tightening up or just a heavy handed staff.0
