  • The reason i didnt take any tokens from the machine was

    A No relatives with me in Boots, which meant no help in reading the machines, as i have several times i am visually impaired and CANNOT READ the stupid things. Getting a member of staff to help is nigh on impossible as the ones upstairs are placed between the Fine Fragrance and the Estee Luader counter. Thus is the staffer for those comes to help me with machine it compromises the security for those. Trying to get a non-counter staffer to help me with them is impossible as there are hardly any people on the shop floor to ask questions about thigns to.

    So basically if i DO NOT HAVE A RELATIVE with me, i do NOT USE THE MACHINE which means i LOSE OUT ON POINTS as they only seem to do promotional points non-machine on makeup these days which i do not use. Things like shampoo etc which i do use only seem to encurr promotional points via the machine.

    Yesterday i picked up a few things but couldnt read the writing and i needed batteries for the cd player - well it wasnt essential but i thought well if theres a minimum spend for triple poitns that would help - and i took all the things downstairs to get the lady at the till to check whether or not id took the right things before id paid for them - because id hate to come home realising id bought the wrong things - and she wouldnt go up the stairs for me and let me wait at the till. oh no i had to try and faff about with me cane upstairs to get the things. eventually *as i was going to miss the bus so i was tutting away* she did come and find the things for me, but why should i have all this stress and hassle when i go to boots? the reason i go there, points aside, is because i am dependent either on high-end hairdressing lines for haircare and ownlabelled items for other items as i do not buy from certain companies due to conerns over animal testing for cosmetic reasons - also superdurgs coconut shampoo makes me hair greasy for startersw.

    I also did not want to take the tokens from the machine and then to be told they wouldnt accept them and look like a right numptie.

    I dont shop online very often as i usually find it hard to make it up to £40 for free delivery then often if i do make it to £40 i then have to try and think of another £10 worth to get a promotional code - but im starting to get really peeved off the last fhye last few times ive been in.

    Anyone got an email addy i can complain to? I dont want to whinge, but i think something got to give.

    Even H.B.O.S seem more helpful, i got something in large print AND on an audio cassette from them today!

    I just dont like the fact that I feel i am kind of disadvantaged from poitns collecting due to a being visually impaired and b lack of good help from staff members recently.

    Have you emailed or written to Boots to tell them how you are being discriminated against?

    I am sure some of the current legislations prohibits this. It's one of those things that most of us don't even have to think about but it's clear to see how you are affected and disadvanted by this.

    If I were you I'd try phoning via the Head Offive switch board. Most large consumer facing companies have a 'Directors Office' that operate as the ultimate trouble shooting department for customer issues that have failed to be resolved elsewhere.

    Scott Wheway is ex-Tesco and was only appointed by Boots last week. Tesco are really hot on Equality so he may be a really good starting point if you want to write.

    Maybe worth looking at. Although I'd have thought Boots would jump at any hint of disability discrimination, which is essentially what you have grounds to complain about.

  • THANK YOU for all that information about Boots for me to whinge *although i dont like whinging - i just dont understand why they cant do SOME ITEMS other than makeup on non-machine tokens, which would help*

    Even without me eyesight problems, i didnt touch the machine on Friday because with it being triple poitns I presumed they would reject them - i have had problems with cashiers and tokens in the past - not on a triple poitns day but trying to do a total spend and product token together. so i would had to buy the toni and guy shampoo seperately which would have meant i would have been under the toal spend anyway

    ive still got the receipt, but dont really have grounds to go and ask about whether these would apply or not.
