Thank you so much for all your good wishes. I know now why women don't choose to go on the stand. You are made to feel like the criminal. Today was awful - I can't talk about it now. No verdict yet - I gave my evidence but now adjourned again until 21st April. The things they were saying about me were outrageous. I'm so upset tonight. Thanks again, PO xx

Hi Poppy - I'm sorry it was horrid for you. I know it's easy to say, but please do not take it personally. For you of course, it is personal and hugely distressing, but to the other side, it's just another job to be done. You've got through it. Well done. Now try to put it away. You're doing great. Big hug. QB

    Here goes.
Yesterday he was in court and had decided to go for it - no change of plea.
I was called to the stand and was questioned by the prosecution which i think went ok - stayed calm etc and didn't cry or anything.
When the defense started to cross examine me they're line of questionning was really weird - about my previous marriage and when dh and i first met online. the prosecution lawyer objected to the line of questioning and after a little conflab the magistrates decided that it was irrelevant. thay asked if he had any questions following a different line of questioning and said he said no. i was released and went to get my stuffto go. within a couple of minutes the court usher came out to find me and asked me to wait five minutes. the court support volunteer (who was lovely - thank you so much all volunteers who provide this service - you have no idea how helpful it is when you feel alone and frightened) came along ad said she'd seen dh and his lawyer going into a meeting room. (they had been given time to concoct another story!!!!) a few minutes later i was called back to the stand and cross-examined viciously - the jist (gist?) of which was - i lured dh to this country to marry me knowing that he would have no money, no job and not good english. in this was i would be able to control him. when he finally got a job ( a process which i had actively tried to prevent!) and was able to start becoming independent, i lost interest because i was no longer in control. i wanted a divorce but had no grounds, so i provoked the attack in order to get grounds for divorce, and there we are, i got what i wanted.
i was treated like a criminal and i couldn't answer the accusations properly because i was in such shock. they dismissed me and there wasn't time for dh to be cross-examined so it was adjourned for 6 more weeks.
i am in pieces, I haven't been to work today because i can't stop crying and shaking. i feel soooo let down. i don't know where to go from here, i've had my say but it wasn't good enough. i have spoken to witness care who are going to try to get one of the prosecution team to talk to me but i don't think anything can be done now. makes me wonder why i bothered. i thought i was doing the right thing.
thanks for your kind messages. prayers might be good now. i don't mind which god.
    po xx

    Poppy,
That must have been so distressing for you. But... it is all part of the process. Please, please don't allow it to destroy you. You had your say, which is good. However, in your shock, you may be underestimating the power of the truth or how you may/may not have come across. Although this must all be horribly unreal and very personal for you, the courts deal with this kind of stuff every day. They have seen it all before. A big hug and chin up, QB xx
