No - my ex has no claim on my assets (and wouldn't take them anyway) but it's the fact they don't believe i'm properly divorced. spoke to the registry office today and there was a whole list of things which would do and certain words they were looking for in the document but they can't find them. my option is to get some document translated at the ministry of foreign affairs in nantes.
have emailed my barrister in france to ask what to do but no reply as yet. next stop the french embassy for advice.:eek:2010 MFW Challenge No. 112 Mortgage paid in full 27/08/10 I was MF!!!

PO
Very much hope this is simply a technical hitch and can be resolved very quickly; perhaps more of a reason to keep plans quiet from friends etc until this is resolved?
Hopefully it won't delay the happy day, but please don't allow the stress to detract from planning and if it looks like the red tape will be a little more tangled then you may want to change the date solely such that the run up to it and planning is a very happy period not one of stress to resolve the French legalities in time?
Hoping all works out quickly.0 -
Nightmare! I hope it turns out to be just a paperwork problem - which from what you have said seems fairly likely, probably just a wording difference between the wording the french use and our equivalent. I will keep my fingers firmly crossed for you.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
