Tesco no beans

Hi all - this post is a really, really minor vent - infact I post only because I found it slightly amusing.

Every time I get a Tesco delivery I seem to get some really strange substitutions such as a bag of rice instead of a ready meal! I always accept them and find use for whatever they give me and dont mind the odd thing not there.

This time the guy brought my delivery and said there were no subs but one item could not be obtained - as always I didn't look and accepted it. When I got to the flat i found that the item was a pack of 4 tins of beans! I can't imagine how they'd totally run out of beans!

Oh and in the spirit of venting do you think i should ask for loads of compensation ;)!

Absolutely YES, I just can't imagine the distress you must have felt to be left 'beanless'.

And, while you're at it, you should sue them for all the bread that you'll have to waste by not being able to have beanz on toast. :rotfl:

Seriously, I've never done on-line shopping, I didn't know that they substituted if they didn't have stock.
Can you imagine someone who has limited cooking abilities getting a bag of rice instead of a ready meal chilli con carne & rice?

I can see the letter now,

    Dear Terry,
I used to be full of beans until I chose to home shop with Tesco's......
  • I just can't do home shopping. They always choose something else for you which you wouldnt take at half price. I'm always amused by the way that there substitutions are always own brand :)

The best substitutions I have ever had were conditioner in place of shampoo and a meat lasagne in place of a veggie quorn lasagne  :rotfl:

I always say I don't want substitutes, but they always send them.

I once ordered a 9kg box of washing powder, on clearance for about a fiver. There were none left, so they sent NINE 1kg boxes at about £3 each!!

The funniest I ever read was from a lady who ordered a packet of sweety mushrooms for her children, and they were replaced with a tin of mushrooms. Yum!!!!
