I once ordered a bottle of lemon juice to make a lemon cake with, and it was substituted for lemon toilet cleaner

I just made a plain sponge though, not a toilet cleaner cake :rotfl:

LOL, yes, they did this to me as well!! :rotfl:
  • I shop between sainsburys and tescos - depends what vouchers i have that week that'll give me discounts... anyway, while shopping, those 'big' trolleys are always getting inthe way - ie those staff that are doing the internet shopping - and i over heard a couple of them trying to find the items on the shopping list, they couldn't find something and both laughed agreed to 'just give anything it doesn't matter' - to which i just stared at them and thought that though i haven't had the need to shop over the web - i'm glad to pick and choose my own shopping. I just felt sympathy for the person they were 'shopping' for because it's not what they have ordered and would be paying for. - so in this case 'every little didn't help'!
  • rose - its ok the bill states any substitutions at the top and you can tell them to sod off and take it back :) Which i often do. In fact last week due to experience i told them NOT to substitute an item with what they did the time before... and what did they do.... substituted it for the SAME BLOODY THING I DIDNT WANT! needless to say it went back lol
  • Christmas 2005 Asda dropped off my shop but had "lost" all my fruit and veges   ! Luckily, as the driver had rung me from his mobile (couldn't find the house) I was able to ring him and he was able to log the problem with the store, although I had to ring them next day I received a whole new lot. I got twice the amount of everything (greengrocery) I'd ordered at no extra charge. However, it's made me very wary of doing my Christmas shop online!!

My asda is great for substitutes i always get the more expensive option if what i want is unavailable and they price match it so you never pay more than your original option.

Tesco on the other hand :rotfl: couldn't find a substitute for toilet roll

Didn't work for me with my first and last funnily enough home delivery from Asda. I ordered 2 x 6 pint cartons of milk, along with several cartons of long life skimmed milk. I received one carton of skimmed milk and no other milk what so ever. Like you I couldn't believe they had "run " out of milk.

The same order they had run out of bread and nothing to substitute it with. I've never used the home shopping since and although my delivery charge was refunded, I had to go and do a proper shop!

The only substitution I had a problem with was when I ordered some fizzy white wine for a party. They didnt have enough of the ones I was after so sent a substitute of red wines? Hmm

  • The most impressive one I had was a few years ago from Sainsburys, when in all fairness it was quite a new scheme... The driver forgot to give me any of my cold stuff - no milk, no butter, no cheese, but I did get several bags of someone elses shopping! At least I had croissants to eat for breakfast thanks to the other persons order, and Sainsburys were very good and gave me lots of Nectar points as an apology (and agreed I could eat the other stuff). I still haven't tried online shopping with them since though!
