Mine didnt change with Norwich Union at all.
Rang them as soon as I got home from my test so I could go straight out and pick my son up from school !!0 -
I had my daughter on my car as a named driver with Direct Line. They didnt put up the premium when she passed.0

im a 18year old male on my mums policy with quinn direct. 12months ago the policy was taken out with myself on a provisional liecence and cost around 750 pound, a month after taking out the policy i passed my test and told quinn that i was now on a full liecence they said ok and didnt increase the premium.
The renewal quote just come through and is now 1100 pound with a years no claims. They are now sayin it matters tht i have a full liecence. The same thing happened to the friend who recommended them to me, so anyone not had an increase in premium with quinn may be in for a bit of a shock, like myself.
dont understand why it makes such a difference now, 11months after passing my test.
They also used the excuse that insurance was on the increase generally. Anyone no if this is true ??0 -
Oh yes i got caught with this one... i paid for cover on a provisional license - then i passed my test 3 months later (no change in premium but i did let them know) when i renewed my new quote was dramatically increased and i had 9 months driving experience with no problems. I had my provisional for about 15 years (the shame.....) and so i was told as i had held it so long with no problems/accidents i was deemed a good risk - as a newly qualified driver i wasnt! dont know if thats true but thats what i was toldI also get stung (as you may) because most insurance companies will not recognise my 1 years no claims bonus from when i had my 3 months provisional license then the 9 months full - it only does it on how long you have had your full license. I had a huge row with one of the insurance companies over this. I pay a HUGE insurance compared with all my friends ( i am 33 have a 1 liter vauxhall agila) ..... my friend has a top spec agila more driving experience and pays half what i do (both fully comp) and has a lower excess....so it is the driving years and experience as well as general increase in prices IMHO. Watch out for the NCB thing too - defo worth major shopping around through comparison sites etc.... i halved my insurance by doing this (although it is still criminally high)Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)0

....How exactly did you get caught? You are a significant risk when you pass your test and given that insurance is a pot of money people pay a proportional amount into, why should you NOT pay it?i halved my insurance by doing this (although it is still criminally high)
This is a new one... how is it criminal?
Stop being so melodramatic.0 -

Agreed people seem to think they can have insurance for a couple of pound regardless of how high a risk they are.0 -
My son was 17 at end of Jan, he bought a saxo, and had his own policy with us as named drivers.( Wrong choice, we have found out since) and insured with Quinn for £1100 as provisional driver. He passed his test on monday, rang quinn they want extra £1591  for the remainder of the 10 1/2 mths of policy. I have since got a quote thru Churchill for the same amount comprehensive as a full driver. Th most annoying part is that nowhere on Quinn (or any other sites and in policy documentation as well )were you warned that there could be a substantial increase in premiums when passing their test. The policy has been cancelled and have now gone with Churchill, so be warned if you are insuring a provisional driver who may soon pass their test, might be worth waiting as we have found to our cost.0

Except for the policy book and web site that clearly indicate the price will go up if a driver gets their full licence. There is a reason for this increase its due to the fact that many young drivers with full licences will be claiming off their insurance thus they are a very high risk.0 -
The good news is that my daughter passed her driving test today:T .
The not so good news is that the insurance premium went up £152 for the next 5 months so this is an extra £365 per annum:eek: .
Also be aware that there will most likely be a substantial increase in the accidental damage excess when your daughter is driving.:sad:0
