Freedom2surf?

Hi,
I am currently with Freedom2surf and have been with them for a number of years. I only surf the web and send the occasional email. Am I right in thinking the some time ago they were taken over by Pipex and are now part of Tiscali. Its just that I keep paying them £14.99 per month and certainly Pipex have a £9.99per month package and Tiscali are even cheaper. I would be grateful for any information. Thanks - Sally

I have just got my mac code form F2S,as I found out they were taken over from Pipex,(Who my parents are with.) and latterly Tosscali.

As a former user of Tosscali's services,I decided it was time to go now, rather than wait until their dreadful service kicked in.

I have just signed with 02.

  • Hi,
Thanks for that. I have also looked at 02 but as I am not a 'monthly' customer, it looks like I will have to pay £12.50. I am really leaning towards Plusnet for £9.99. I like the idea of being able to talk to someone who I can understand should anything go wrong. Wat it relatively easy to get your MAC code from F2s? Regards - sally

Are you aware of the very low (pathetic) 1GB usage allowance on this package?

You'll find it easier to ring F2S for your mac code,as they still hadn't replied to my e.mail request for it after 5 days.

I rung them, and got it straight away.

I have to say that I have been extremely happy with F2s in all the time I've been with them.I have had a couple of small issues, that were resolved fairly quickly, but I have had experience of Tosscali in the past, and I didn't want to go through all that hassle again, that's why I leapt now.

  • Hi,
Yes, thank you, Like I've said, I only surf the net and send an occasional email and in any case another 1GB is only a £1. I already have a 2GB limit with F2s and never ever use this so I should be OK. It just maddens me that they can offer new Tiscali customers a low rate and those that plod on with them pay the rip off price. Honestly, if I hadn't looked on the internet access board I wouldn't have known they were part of Tiscali. Some of us 'olduns' are real slow!!!!! Thanks again - sally
  • FAO Quinny.
You were obviously posting as I was typing my message. I agree, I have had very minor issues with f2s (lost connection on 2 occasions) but it is still £14.99 per month (2Gb usage) and I just feel I can do better pricewise at the moment. I would definitely go with 02 but as I am a PAYG customer and not monthly, I would pay £12.50 per month so thats why I am leaning towards Plusnet. Thanks - sally

    Plusnet 1GB = £9.99
O2 "unlimited" = £12.50 including free wireless router.

  • You could have a point Expresso. After doing the maths, it would only cost 34p per week extra after using Quidco for the cashback to go with 02. One day I maybe into downloading - you never know! Thanks - sally

    Absolutely.

    I have been with F2S for about 3 years now,and I'm happy with what I've got.....to a degree.

If I have/had any complaints with them,it's their customer service has gone downhill somewhat since I joined them.Maybe this is a result of the Pipex merger,I don't know. But what I do know,is that Tiscali's service record is very well documented, all over this known universe, and as someone who has suffered at the hands of them,I wasn't going to wait until I had the pleasure of their shocking service again.

From what I've read about 02 so far,it's all been positive, and yes I have locked into a 12 month contract, but if it goes the same way, then once I've fulfilled that,I'll vote with my wallet.

No connection at all today with F2S. The Tiscali boys are working their magic it seems.

    o2 deal looks good
