Stick on the M6 or A50 and go somewhere half decent.

Or just get on the A50 at Meir around 8am on a weekday morning and have free parking for an hour because nothing moves :p

for us down saaff, what is Hanley Duck ?

my daughter recently noticed this phrase when we visited Hanley (its about 30 mins from where i live) and she came out of a shop saying "that woman called me duck" she didnt know what to make of it. It is just used like "love" round there

    I've been Money Tipped!
What I thought was strange was when I first heard men calling other men duck! I thought it was just a female thing.

If you don't get called duck you may get called Shugs!

    :)
  • was once on a night out in that area (watching wolves) and heard a young woman say something... all I heard was "duck" at the end... needless to say i misheard and expected something completely different. made a right tit of myself

whoops, wash out your ears next time you are in the area... it is a common mistake to make :rotfl:

Ah, Hanley Tesco - the store that time forgot! It hasn't been updated for nearly 25 years, and is like going into a time warp. I got a few mobile phones there during the R+R days and it was one of the few branches where the staff played fair.

I was shocked when I visited, it really is retro from the signage inside and out to the old open freezers which I haven't seen in stores for years and frankly don't keep much cold.

    It's a very odd place!

True, but will still be missed. An end of an era right down to the strong smell of pee as you walk back to your car.
