I shall certainly not be coming to London again in a hurry. It must be the most unfriendly place in Britain!

I have just received a Penalty Charge Notice from Brent LBC for being in the bus lane on Twyford Abbey Road - the same place I believe as Peter. What a shock! I do not know this area at all and was just following the directions on the SavNav....and certainly was not aware that I had committed an offense until I received the notice this morning. (Incidentally I have been driving for almost 30 years and have never experienced this situation before!!!) Is it worth appealing or should I just pay up within 14 days of the notice and save myself £60?
P.S. The details of the fixed penalty notice are available on the London Borough of Brent's website on the page to make payment and the registration and make of the vehicle is correct but the colour is not - does this have any bearing on the case?0 -
The question is why should buses have private lanes?
buses will be less affected by traffic and will be quicker so timetables will be more reliable and the bus will have an advantage over the car so it give people a reason to leave the car at home and take the bus thus reducing congestion.0 -

They are not efficient use of road space.
Can you imagine being a shopkeeper, having a bus lane dumped outside & what it does to your trade ?? Go ask a shopkeeper & they will tell you.
Towns & cities need customers to visit shops to keep money & services in the local areas.
The rapid infestation of bus lanes in recent years was driven by Red Ken's doctrine & TFL to drive motorists off the road.
And we now see what has happened to Ken Livingstone.

looking on 192.com maps you can clearly see on the road at BOTH ends "Buses Only" and it's Red tarmac....Ex forum ambassador

I Got cought today as well there. and i am thinking of filing a complaint as i followed the road markings for some industrial estate and i ended up in the bus lane and the road ahead was closed. I am not familiar with the area and even i knew i was in wrong i turned on the roundabound at the end and went back thru the bus lane from where i came originally. My eye catched the camera at the end just when it went down for the number plate. My question is :Can they send me 2 tickets and will they accept that i was lost and i returned from where i came from?0

Although very unlikely they will cancel all tickets with this reason.
They normally reject 1st appeals as they know most people will pay up.
Try it & see.
To get these overturned you really need to kick up a fuss, write appeal letter, go see video, possibly take to Parking Appeals Sevice (if they deal with final appeals on bus lane tickets).
