Does anyone know the dedicated bus lane road on:
Bodiam Way, Park Royal, London ??

http://www.multimap.com/maps/?&hloc=GB|PO63TD#t=l&map=51.53211,-0.28637|17|4&loc=GB:51.5298:-0.29343:17|hanger%20lane|Hanger%20Lane,%20Hanger%20Lane,%20Ealing

A friend has received a bus lane ticket at this location.
Looks like it's a new road on the industrial estate which is only for buses.

On Google Earth you can see the bus lane markings & that this short road seems just for buses.

This road does not appear on Multimap search or Google maps, but you can see the road on Multimap & Google Earth.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=hanger+lane+london&sll=40.551081,-123.181586&sspn=0.014706,0.028925&ie=UTF8&om=0&ll=51.531794,-0.28528&spn=0.005139,0.011802&z=16&iwloc=addr

I don't know this location myself, road layout, lines & signs.

Does anyone know this bus lane road, road layout, whether everything is kosher regarding lines, signs, road layout or is there anything misleading ??

Ps: anyone know how to get weblink out of Google Earth.

No, sorry..........but be wary of how upto date Google Earth is.........the last time I looked, there were about seven Concordes on the apron at Heathrow

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.

Wow, this caught my eye, as I too have had the pleasure of a ticket from that route. I was lost, turned into it by mistake and couldn't back out onto a roundabout on a busy road. I then spent half an hour trying to make my way back to where I started. Horrid place.
Tried to appeal and got a three page letter about why I had to pay the fine.
Because it was so new, all the signs were in order.

    .

This is about as obvious as it could be. It is pretty obvious what it is so there is no argument on unclear signs etc.

The problem is that even now, it is still used as a rat run so they actually make a point of sending the tickets out. I don't fancy the chances of getting out of that one.

What do you mean obvious, signs (bus lane, no left/right turn, cctv enforcemement) should be correct so that public do not make mistake, no ifs, no buts about it.

I don't know the location myself.

Rat run, it looks like a con operation has been setup by the local council on an exit from the industrial estate to rake in some money.

If the a406 is usually busy it looks like the sort of road people would take to get onto the a40.

It does say buses only in big letters on the entrance and exit http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=hanger+lane+london&sll=40.551081,-123.181586&sspn=0.014706,0.028925&ie=UTF8&om=0&t=h&ll=51.53258,-0.285994&spn=0.000447,0.000434&z=21&iwloc=addr if you want to get to the buildings near best approach would be the long way around unfortunately.

It does look like a bit of a con though designed to make money out of people who don't want to wait in traffic elsewhere. Seems no obvious reason why it should be a bus only road.

Thing is from the air you can't see the signs etc

Hope it's got dead end signs down at the roundabout at Coronation Road. Infact I reckon someone not local on a dark wet night could easily find themselves on that road and by the time you read the "bus lane" marking you've got no way out and probably already have a ticket in the post!!
Seems like a bit of a money earner

If they have problems with rat-runners stick a couple of traffic islands etc down, this slows the road down a bit making it less apealing as a rat run yet still keeps it open as access

Looks like there are shadows of signs either side of road entrance.

Some of these cameras make an absolute fortune, it's turned into such a scam.

Fair enough, if you know location & cctv enforcement is operating you don't go down the road. Thing is, this is a bus only road, which I think is unusual, I don't know of any others.

But one slip-up by a stranger, you get £60/120 bus lane ticket, it's ridiculous !!

What matters is the signs leading up to the road & at entrance, which should all be correct, so that people don't make mistakes.

Only similar thing I can think of is this http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=53.796937,-1.540345&spn=0.000425,0.000434&t=h&z=21&om=0 in Leeds City centre, although there is plenty of "Limited Access" signs with more specific wording and times on the signs. Don't know of any cameras and fines being dished out though - but I presume if caught by the police they'd be having a chat with you.

I have an office just around the corner on Coronation Road and when they first put this in a couple of years ago (at the same time the Diagio building was built) there were a lot of complaints.

So by obvious I mean that there are planety of clear signs telling you that you can't go down there in a car. Also as you can see from the link it has bus pane written all over it.

As for it being a con. Well as stated before it is a major rat run (it was even more so before they put this in). Indeed if you look on Twyford Abbey road you can see even more bus lanes and if you look really hard you will also find some parts of that road actually have gates to restrict traffic flow further wsuch is the problem.
